Unban **Satan** , huh? I dunno, I’d probably enjoy reading his posts if he were posting again, and if he got out of line at this point he’d be out of here so fast the snowballs would still be melting when he got home. Can’t say I feel very strongly about it though. On the other hand, I _really_ miss Libby’s ( **Drain Bead** )'s posts, and if the only way to get her back is by unbanning **Satan** , it’s probably worth giving it a try. ---

Hmmm…I keep trying to leave, and things keep happening. A BANNED Member, removed for being a total asshole, who admits to being a sockpuppet user, and who is an all-around creep, is flaming me by proxy via his LiveJournal. And other Members do so too, since they are forbidden to do so here. And, surprise surprise - a supporter of his posts the link here so everyone can draw their attention to it. And this isn’t “being a jerk”? 😕 Yes, this truly is the finest hour of the SDMB. :rolleyes: ---

I’m sure he did **tech**. But I noted “you people rock”. then of course, made it a point to get a dig in at **Anthracite** (who in this thread, acknowledged she was wrong about the ‘weasle’ thing). If his aim on the one hand was to extend the olive branch, show that he’s changed, and say thanks to the supporters, why, on the other hand, make sure he slapped (metaphorically) some one else? ---

There is absolutely nothing wrong with “rallying” posts such as this. Let the voice of the people rise up. The administration can choose to be deaf to our entreaties, that is their prerogative… But it’s better to discuss our sentiments towards unbanning people rather than hiding them in the closet to fester. ---

And I still want to understand what “go through that” (to use \*\* wring’s \*\* phrase) \* means. \* Go through \* what? \* Unclebeer? Tuba? Coldie? Anyone? Are we talking some bitching about the banning? Some disagreement? People get downright fucking vicious here every goddamn day, what’s so scary about bringing back Satan being all humble and apologetic? I have this mental picture of James Dean in “Rebel” “You’re tearing me apart!!” but I don’t get what the intolerable trauma is/was/could potentially be, and no one has yet really clarified it. We’re just getting versions of “It would be bad/polarizing.” Which sounds like some knees jerking. Can we play the “what if?” game, please? What if Satan is reinstated? What is the worst that could happen? He becomes the same dick he was before and gets booted. A few folks show up to gloat, a few folks tell 'em to fuck off, and we all go back to talking about evolution, Buffy, and whether we pick our noses with our index fingers or pinkies. What’s the big trauma everyone is so afraid of? ---

I am not going to get involved in the “should they or shouldn’t they unban” debate, but I do want to say that AFAIAC the situation between the two of us is water long under the bridge. Life is much to short to hold grudges. As I said in his LJ, if he is willing, I am more than ready to continue the friendship we initially began before the ugliness started. ---

Anthracite, it’s over. It’s time to let it go. What users do in other places has nothing to do with here. When I’m in Canada, I’m not bound by the laws of the U.S., and when people are on LJ, they aren’t bound by the rules of SD. If they want to act like jerks there, it’s allowed. And it really can’t be healthy to hold that much anger for such a long time. ☹ ---

I dig **Anthracrite** and she knows that. Was his comment out of line? Depends on the side of the octagonal fence you are on. It is highly possibly that he had not seen ALL the comments she had made before he wrote that. I do consider **Satan** to be a friend as well. I do think that **Anthracite** had said more than she wanted to say, as she even stated. I don’t think he was upset by her words but didn’t understand her comments about “God” and such. They both have intense personalities that can be misread at times. In either case, he called out those he appreciated the support. Right or wrong for his post on Live Journal, he said his peace and I 'spose we can wrangle more about this but what will that really accomplish? ---

**stoid** - when I used the term, what I meant was the sort of thing I went through w/an assholic ex husband. He screwed up, hurt me, begged, pleaded, gave sincere apology, vows to reform and act better. I forgave. Repeat a million times or so. The last time, I chose to not take him back. It’s been years. The venom is no longer there, the pain is no longer there, he’s made substantial changes, appologized sincerely again. And I’ve accepted his appology, feel that he’s changed. and you couldn’t get me to take him back again. It simply wouldn’t be worth it. I believe that the staff felt (it seems to me that they expressed great sadness at the time, over and over again) that they had no choice but to ban. I’m confident that in their consulations w/each other they pained over the decision “But what if he says he’s sorry and promises to not do it again” ‘But he’s said that over and over’. and there’s even a possability/probability that _some_ of the mods/admins would like to have him back (that was expressed in the email). But ‘what if’ they have him back and things go badly for him again and he goes through another tough time and starts acting out again? then they’d have to relive the entire thing. when **Coll** was banned, I don’t recall a single person saying “they shouldn’t have done it”. but rather “yep, you could see that one coming from miles away, but I’ll miss him”. with **Satan** and with **Melin** there were damn near armed camps (I wasn’t here for **Melins** but read about it) “no, they shouldn’t have”. Why in this very thread, we already have one person taking their bat and ball and going home. That’s what I personally meant about devisive. Polarizing was another word used. Think of Hillary Clinton. Most folk either love her or hate her with a purple passion to rival the ages. Polarizing. ---

I was reading his post on LiveJournal, and saying to myself “You know…you’re probably wrong about him. He was a really smart guy at times, and once he was very cordial. Maybe you could just mail him and have a chat, and maybe mend- what the fuck? He’s flaming me in his ‘forgiveness’ post?” Who knew? **Joe** , with all due respect - when you can get him off my back now, and those people flaming me in his LiveJournal thread, then it will be “over”. Liz - How you doing! Jesus, it’s been too long. We must chat soon - I have some good news to tell you. Anyhow - I couldn’t read the “comments” re: “God” on LiveJournal, because I could not access the LJ site earlier. I could only see what the “convenient” sock posted on the SDMB. Thus, I didn’t see the comments saying it was all a joke. Satan assumed that I had deliberately or negligently missed them, instead of applying Occam’s Razor. Why didn’t he give me the benefit of the doubt? And didn’t I self-depreciate the “god/goddess” thing in this thread? ---
