Just watched the special, mainly to remind myself if there was anything at all I liked about this show. There wasn’t. I thought the book wasn’t up to much either. It’s one of King’s ‘lazy’ books. He takes a hoary old sf idea (dome over town, done before, and better, by a whole bunch of sf writers, including Philip K. Dick) and rather than reinvigorating it he turns out a lazy potboiler. The book was bad, the show is worse. I won’t be watching this season. ---

The recap did remind me that I originally tuned in because of Jeff Fahey. His getting killed in the 2nd ep was ample warning of the sh\*tfest that it became. New season “will focus on their stories”. Does not sound promising but it’s best to go in with low expectations… I will still be hoping that Junior and the whiny blond teenage girl get killed off pronto. ---

Okay, it was a lot of “the dome is trying to tell us something!” But they did kill off the useless woman cop (also on my list of characters who need to die) (but then so is half the cast list). A couple Stephen King touches: the radio station woman comes back to haunt and taunt Big Jim…hope they keep that up. Also, looks like a potential serial killer/ax murderer on the loose. Liked the first outside-of-dome perspective and what that might mean. Also SK cameo. Not looking forward to seeing: radio station DJ, now an insta-cop, taking up the Hate Barbie mantle from Big Jim, because it makes no sense. Even Jr accepts that Barbie did not kill/try to kill those people. Also, not excited to see Science! Teacher vs woo! Julia dynamic nor inevitable EMT vs Barbie showdown. Undecided about: new alien character. ---

so much domeness. Big Jim tries to hang himself. He can’t reach the lever. He’s a smart guy; he rigged up hand grenades to blow the bunker door off (it was blown clean off without damaging anything nearby like the stairway). Could he have thrown himself off the edge of the scaffold and died that way? Could he have taken himself out of the noose, operated the trap, put the noose on and then jumped through the hole? Then Julia opens her new magic knife fast enough before he hits bottom and cuts through that thick rope like a hot razor through butter and still leaves a ragged edge. The bell (must be iron) is attracted out of the church without the nails being sucked out. if they are going to bring back ghosts then the Reverend certainly deserves to do some haunting of Big Jim. in fact Maxine and her gunman should go after him too. he should have four ghosts after him. factual stupidity and not enough ghosts. that show sucks. ---

I’m also hoping that the school locker is a PORTAL TO OUTSIDE THE DOME!!! but it’s probably just a boring old link to the alien universe. ---

I don’t know, but it seems to me if I had a fresh chest wound and happened upon someone drowning, I might just get in a boat to attempt my rescue rather than run right past it and swim in full street clothing. Now that the lady cop is dead, who is going to utter the most mind-blowingly stupid lines? Of course in fairness to the lady cop, she probably doesn’t out-stupid the woman who’s porking the guy who murdered her husband and then lied about it. ---

Just shoot yourself in the head. End of story. Joe didn’t seem too bothered by having a nail go through his hand. “Um, can someone pull this nail out of my hand? Not even five minutes into the show my wife asks “why didn’t she just take the boat she just got off of to rescue the drowning girl?” I seriously wonder what the producers and directors are thinking when they make these choices. Seriously, anyone have any guess as to how these non-nonsensical decisions are made? ---

they look at the forgotten cobweb covered crop duster wondering if it could ever fly again. seconds later Big Jim is distracted. the plane starts right up with good gas and systems. the tank is full of good pesticide. Big Jim knows of the spare fuel tank because he used it to smuggle drugs. the place wasn’t an island, you could drive right to it like all those propane trucks did. why would he have to use a crop duster to smuggle drugs and how much room is there to smuggle drugs inside of a crop duster? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder. ---
