Oh, this episode was just horrible :eek: Along with all the before mentioned bad storytelling, I canā€™t stand the quick-to-anger scenes - I got fed up by the second or third. Something bad happens to a victim - someone mentions a suspect that has done something or acted suspiciously toward the victim at some point in the story - avenging person quickly jumps to unsubstantiated conclusion about suspect - instantly becomes enraged and MUST NOW KILL SUSPECT AND AVENGE !!! I will be surprised if the main characters donā€™t all kill each other by episode four or five. They sure deserve to. ---

I had felt oddly compelled to keep watching this show despite its descent into over-the-top horribleness, but I finally broke the spell about ten minutes into this last ep. Talk about a reset button: Big Jim has murdered people including the very innocent Dodie, he tried to kill Barbie, but now theyā€™re all hanging out at the diner and heā€™s pouring them coffee (which I thought Barbieā€™s ladyfriend said the town was out of)? Yeah, okayyyā€¦Iā€™m done. I may read short summaries on Wikipedia just to see what other nonsense they are up to, but I donā€™t need to waste 45 minutes a week on this any more. BTW, someone here had recommended the novel _1632_, and Iā€™m now reading it and really enjoying it. Itā€™s terrible prose in a literary sense, but the story is so fun Iā€™m finding that doesnā€™t bother me much. ---

I tuned in for a while last night (same reasonā€“train wreck) and noticed that the kids are now hanging around with the girl who (I thinkā€“I only saw the tail end of last weekā€™s episode) came out of the locker and murdered Angie. And now theyā€™re talking about ā€œculling the herdā€ so they have enough food? Wouldnā€™t it make sense to go for eating the people who are already dead before they started killing the living? Murderā€™s okay, but cannibalism is a big no-no. ---

Why donā€™t they just say, ā€œThe Dome turned the power back on!ā€? It would be much better than trying to keep up this pretense of the entire town running off generators, especially since the magnetism supposedly fried most of the generators. What are these generators (and cars) running off of? Lights, computers, tablets, security cameras etc. are all still working. Why didnā€™t the air bag go off when that car hit the tree? ---

They have just thrown realism about that out the window from the beginning. The problem is that they want it to be a soap opera ā€œin the futureā€, and in soap operas people have nice houses with working appliances, look well groomed, etc. ---

My mom is still watching Under the Dome; I am not. (She lives with me.) Itā€™s kind of fun to listen to her outbursts about the showā€™s stupidity. It was also fun to tell her what Junior is like in the book. šŸ˜ƒ FYI, she was freakinā€™ horrified. That reminds me - I was talking to my friends about the book and series on Saturday night. My best friend (whoā€™s read the book, but never watched the show) was shocked that the show would attempt to make Junior a sympathetic character (as of last season). Ew. Just, ew. The show and book are so incredibly, incredibly differentā€¦ I encourage anyone interested to read the book. It is far superior, though itā€™s rather on the long side, and some readers were disappointed with the ending. I think thereā€™s an audiobook version too. I may keep reading this thread, just to see how crazy the show manages to get. šŸ˜‰ ---

the timeline is all over the place and the only continuity is that there is a dome, it is Chesterā€™s Mill, Big Jim uses his mouth to get his way. didnā€™t the episode before last have Big Jim say it has been a couple of days. yet in season one the government saw it reasonable to incinerate a huge area, of which evidence of has disappeared, after investigating the dome for long enough to consider that as the only alternativeā€¦ yet in season one the town went all Mad Max smashing and stealing all the gas and food. while the diner keeps on. ---

The horrible teacher hosed things down with salt water and it soon stopped raining. šŸ˜• Earlier in the diner when the nutty guy started talking about it raining blood she maintained it was not blood. How the hell did she know? Did she do tests? I donā€™t think so. And in the previous episode she built an electromagnet to counteract the magnetic forces of the dome, which were strong enough to rip the nails out of houses that were near the wall. When asked if it was strong enough she reassured them that ā€œWith that much copperā€¦ā€ Of course. She knows science, therefor can do all kinds of magical things.
