Emmett Otter was a yearly tradition in my house, love that. My suggestion is if you like those “Large extended family comes home for the holidays” comedy dramas The Family Stone is surprisingly entertaining. ---

Just watched _The Man Who Invented Christmas_ last night. Thanks for the recommendations! While I enjoyed it, there was an egregious error right during the opening section. The song being played at the thee-AY-ter where Dickens was appearing in America was _I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy_. While I’m not the world’s biggest expert on Dickens, I _do_ know my Jimmy Cagney, and that song was not written until at least 60 years later. ---

The latter is the song from the movie, the former is based on a very old tune. ---

I see allay’alls are dreaming of a white Christmas. Try [This Christmas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Christmas_(film)) “based” on Donny Hathaway’s 1970’s classic song. Well, classic in my circle of friends and family. It does feature Chris Brown before we found out what a little shit he was in real life. It also features Loretta Devine, Regina King, Delroy Lindo and Iris Elba to name a few. OK, the plot centers around Me’Dear not liking music or singing-- which I concede is pretty contrived-- it is a very classic standard Christmas story but with black people.
