Underwater Tunnels for Submarines

The Chinese quite a few underground naval facilities. The one on Hainan Island can accommodate 20 nuclear ballistic missile subs.

Chinese Navy Submarines Are Protected By Underground Tunnels

The Russians have windows in their submarines. It’s so they don’t have to navigate on the surface exposed to the cold weather. They’re not pressurized and the room fills will water when descending beneath the waves.

One of them caught by satellite:

Hard to say how extensive it is, but it does look fairly big.

A Jedi did it.

It’s an interesting question. I’ve worked on submarine sonar my entire adult life, including a fair amount of time in HFA integration. I’m not entirely certain how well it’s going to work in a completely-enclosed tunnel–just isn’t something it’s designed to do. You might be able to creep through a tunnel using it…

(I’m not gonna be onboard though.)

My biggest concern would be currents as the tide comes in and out. You’re gonna get yourself Austin Powers’ed in there.

After extensive and exhausting research in front of the DVD player, I have discovered that the Jonny Quest episode, Pirates From Below has a secret underground submarine base accessible from the sea. It also has a couple continuity flaws involving said sub base and the large sub, two mini-subs and hovercraft inhabiting the joint.

Don’t quote me, but I remember an episode of The Flintstones spoofing the James Bond movies (do you recall Madam “I’m too important to be captured” Yes?) and I believe there was an underground sub base, but someone else will have to verify this as I don’t have access to Flintstone DVDs.

Are you sure this wasn’t the feature film The Man Called Flintstone, released right after the series ended, and with a secret agent plot?

I saw it when it first came out, but remember very little of it. Looking through the Wikipedia page, I don’t se anything about an underwater submarine base.

Nope, never saw Man Called… . The episode I was referring to is fifth season, Dr. Sinister (I just now found it on Tubi); sadly, there is no submarine base, but the bad guy’s lair is inside a dormant volcano.
