# Unfortunate Company Names

Once upon a more innocent time, you could name your business after the initials of the owners. But nowadays that’s sometimes not such a great idea.  
So I’ve seen a ticket from \*\* S & M Amusements\*\*, and there’s an **S & M Liquors** near me. And Yesterday I commuted home behind a truck for some **S & M** business, but I couldn’t make out exactly what it was.  
I’m sure there a few **B & D** businesses out there, as well.

A friend of my mother opened up a hairdressing salon and called it… Scissor Sisters.

No doubt they took their inspiration from the popular band, but the popular band took their name from the slang term for a certain lesbian sex position.

MoFo, meet [Sno Fo](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3621/3522448971_a4e6c21330_o.jpg), a brand of overcoats circa 1950.  
(People at the time presumably saw it and thought “Snow Foe.” Not anymore.)
