My highly respected ophthalmologist has the last name of Blinder. A place I worked years ago had a (male) elevator operator with the first name of Darling. The elevator mechanic (also male) loved to greet him in front of unsuspecting people with a friendly “Hello, Darling”. ---

I know a set of twins, Noemi and Zora. Not unfortunate like some of the names in this thread, but everyone calls Noemi “Naomi” and everyone calls Zora Zozo, which just sounds unfortunate. What were their parents thinking? ---

Back when I was practicing criminal law, two of my repeat customers were identical twin brother of each other with identical names. Mistaken identity was always pleaded. ---

Not as bad as a couple of sets of twins I’ve heard of. My uncle and his wife saw fit to name their twins Trevor and Travis. This did cause some difficulty with getting the right name out. Worse, though, would be a delivery guy I was acquainted with while working in a 7-11. He and his wife chose to name their twins Trevin and Kevin. Rhyming names are excessively cutesy as it is, especially on twins, but concocting a “creative” one just to HAVE the rhyme? ---

A client of ours apparently named her (one) daughter Kateandashley. As in Olsen. Both of them. ---

What’s wrong with Zora (Slavic) or Zohra (Perso-Arabic)? Perfectly good name. Zora Neale Hurston. Zohra Sehgal. ---

I was in the classroom for 17 years, so I saw some doozies: Lenger, Nemesis, Nimsi, Ehgmma (pronounced edge-ma), Lyndon Johnson II (seriously, that was his name), and my favorite, Lucky Seven. The second. Oh, and through my own kids, I know an Anakin and a kid whose first name is Jedi…last name is Masters. JEDI. MASTERS. I also knew a family that named their kids after musical terms–Cadence (okay, that works), Allegra (um…), and Adagio. Ummmm…adagio means SLOW. A synonym for it is ritardo. You really want to name your kid _that_?
