Picklenappers deserve to go through life maimed, the tendons in their thieving hand severed by the fork of one defending said pickle.

For pure bliss, check out a really _good_ kosher deli. (I’m channeling here on _Izzy’s_ in Cinti.) The sammiches are lucious–piles of hot pastrami or corned beef on dark rye–but each table has little crocks of pickles. GREAT pickles; crunchy, salty kosher dills. As well as crocks of crunchy sauerkraut, of course. A salt lover’s dream.

But I’m in mourning for a delicacy I haven’t seen since childhood, true food of the gods: \*\* _dill pickle chip dip_\*\*. It was splendid; the salty tang of lots of tiny dill pickle chunks, combined with cool, slightly tart sour cream and…? I haven’t been able to reproduce it exactly. A titch of cream of tartar was okay but not quite right; a spinkle of garlic salt was good but not authentic; a dab of Hellman’s mayonnaise was getting there but still not quite exact.

Sigh.

I’ll take pickles over chocolate any day.

. . . mmmm . . . pickles . . .

I just now finshed a small stack of cornichon pickles (those teeny tiny little dill picklettes). I have to eat pickles along with the food, otherwise all of the food won’t taste like pickles. But I always save a big bite of pickle for last. To me, hamburgers are just a tool to shove ketchup and pickles down my gullet. I have to admit that I very carefully watch anyone eating a burger with warm pickle slices on it. I’ve been known to picklenap, but only from people I love because I know they understand my sickness. I’ve been good lately and now I always ask before I actually reach into peoples hamburgers to retrieve the salty, vinegary treasure.

When I was little, my dad would always by me one of those big deli pickles when I behaved in the grocery store. I was always very good at the grocery store. 🙂

A likely story.

And I suppose that when you buried her doll way back when… you really thought it was DEAD? 😃

I am the most fortunate pickle person I know, in that none of my friends like pickles. Therefore, I not only get to eat MY pickles, I get to eat THEIR pickles as well!!!

Worship me…I am blessed with pickle hating friends! [sub]I must LIVE right or something…[/sub]

I am one of those anti-pickle-people!

I **hate** pickles.

On any fast food trip, I don’t ask for McD’s to “hold the pickle.”

I figure I’m going to have to check under the bun to be sure it’s gone anyways, so this way one of my friends gets an extra! 😃

Mr. tlw claims to have married me because I can make pickles. And I do make pickles. Once a month, like clockwork, I make two gallons of dill pickles, and a quart of sweet pickles, and even a quart of pickled mushrooms. Mmm, pickles.

As a weird aside: when I was pregnant, I couldn’t stand ‘em. Mr. tlw had to suffer through several pickle-free months because the idea of making – let alone eating – a pickle was fairly nauseating. So much for that old wives’ tale.

Oh man… you people keep giving me cravings…

Lovely tuna wraps filled to the brim with tuna, cheese and pickles… Subway subs with _extra_ pickles… dill pickle chips (Lays btw 😃 )… dill pickle dip… if it wasn’t so late and I didn’t live in a bad area I’d hoof it to the sev right now for some!

My Grandma used an interesting recipe last time she made pickles. Polish Dill’s… a cross between dill and bread and butter. I prefer the dill, even though those weren’t bad.

**bristlesage** pickles would be fantastic! Thank you _ever_ so much for the offer. You are too kind. Perhaps we can… erm… _arrange_ something…

When I lived briefly in Greenwich, Ct, there was a deli that I frequented just for its pickles. They were not only huge but were the best tasting pickles I’d ever had. At 50 cents (IIRC) per pickle, my craving was satisfied frequently.

Does anyone else do this with their huge pickles? Keep in mind I’m a tad weird anyway… I like to eat the top off the pickle, then give it nice little squeezes, popping the seeds out and eating those first. Once the seeds are out, eat the rest of the pickle.

Of course, just eating it is joy in and of itself. _sighs_ Sure do with I had a deli pickle right now…
Oh, and **Kal** , darlin hubby, pickle breath is the least of your worries. With the amount of onion and garlic I eat (no such thing as too much garlic), a bit of pickle beath is nuttin 😛

**Washte** , if you’re serious, I am. No one should have to live without pickles in the proper American fashion! Email me if you want me to send them, free of charge. I feel I really must, especially as I eat them _exactly_ as you described.

And we have dill pickle potato chips, **featherlou** , just not the Lay’s ones, at least not out west. But who said anything about a civilized nation?

True story:

When I was three, I had a pet cucumber. My mom grew it in her garden. The thing must’ve been 18" long. I used to even drag this thing to school. Cut to the chase: my mom makes me leave it home from school one day. I come home looking for Kyookie, and she made him into pickles.

I loved that cucumber…

he was delicious.

::whimpers pitifully::

Oh, it’s okay, **featherlou** , don’t worry about me, really. Just because I’ve been deprived of this stuff for years. 'S fine. Really. No prob.

[sub](muffled screaming)[/sub]

While you’re nibbling daintily at _the food of the gods_, that creamy goodness with emerald flecks passing through your lips, don’t think another thing about it.

If a mental image crops up of big, pitiful, starving puppy eyes staring at you, it’ll be pure coincidence.
