# Uninstalling Google toolbar from Firefox 2.0.0.11

Tools-Add ons-Uninstall and it reinstalls itself when Firefox restarts.

The big thing I’d try first is to open the Task Manager and make sure FF is actually closed before you reopen it (I’d actually do a system restart before reopening) it does have a habit of not closing immediately after you hit the little X.

Google [says](http://www.google.com/support/firefox/bin/answer.py?answer=45081&topic=11800) to use the uninstall in the toolbar itself.

There is a way to manually uninstall it, [Uninstalling an add-on manually - Advanced](http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons), and as that page says make sure it’s not installed globally.

Someone on the Google Toolbar forum suggested starting Firefox in Safe Mode and then uninstalling the toolbar.

That seems to have worked.  
One of the options in safe mode is “disable all add ons”  
I did that, continued in safe mode, uninstalled through Tools, restarted in safe mode with disable all add ons, restarted Firefox and it’s gone.
