Riding the bus to school every morning we passed this place called “ **Bigg Tool and Die** ”. It became a running joke for the whole bus to chant “Must’ve been big to have killed her” everytime we went by. ---

There’s a liquor store in my hometown called Red Carpet Liquor, and I didn’t think anything of it until one of my friends read the sign aloud and asked, “So, is that a communist lesbian or just a bloody lesbian?” Thereafter, the place was always referred to as “The Bloody Lesbian,” even when a couple of my fellow freaks got jobs there. 😃 ---

I’ve told this story before but it bears repeating. Hamish, who used to live in British Columbia, informed me that the provincial ferry system used to use the advertising slogan, “Cruise the Straits with BC Ferries!” 😃 Apparently, a gay employee had to tell them what it meant. We naturally curse him for this. There is no telling how long it could have continued, to our great delight, otherwise. ---

There is a place in Tucson called the No-tell Motel. They advertise waterbeds. There is a hair cutting place on Broadway near Tucson Blvd called “Hair & Perm” but the ampersand is especially froofroo and curly and the general effect is that the sign looks like it says “Hair Sperm” until you really give it a good look. ---
