I thought John Wayne was anything but pathetic in _The Searchers_. That is only one movie in many of course. But he was (IMHO) a better actor than say, George Raft. Talk about damning with faint praise. ---

Personally, I could care less about “celebrities”. These are merely people with some degree of talent (although in the case of Pauly Shore or Carrot Top the word “talent” is questionable). Whether the talent is singing, dancing, acting, sports ability or merely their appearance they are just people. I don’t care about to who they are married to or who they are sleeping with, what addiction they are currently combating and I definitely don’t care to hear about their political views. Their success is based off a need for adoration and approval. There isn’t a single celebrity, living or dead, that I would care to know, live next to or meet. Except Jennifer Alba. Daaayamm. 😃 ---

The channel gets changed when any of the following appear: Robin Williams Jim Carrey David Spade (channel changed plus I shoot the TV with a revolver) Chris Kattan Richard Dreyfus Paris Hilton Radio, ditto: Stevie Nicks Phil Collins (and the revolver comes out) Bruce Cougar Mellensteen re: John Wayne. No, he couldn’t “act.” But he could be a strong presence. And when he was well utilized, within his particular limitations, he could part of a brilliant movie. Every movie he made with John Ford, who grokked the essence of Wayne-ness, was a masterpiece. Almost nothing else he ever did is remotely watchable. I’m just sayin. Oh and count me in on the Mother Teresa pileon. ---

I can’t stand Jim Carey, Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Chris Farley and most of the other SNL dolts. Not to mention, while she did take people off the street and give them a pallet to die on and someone to wipe their brow, she didn’t do much more than that. No medication, no painkillers. Because suffering is holy and good for her nuns. That and she got in bed (not literally that I know of 😉 ) with a lot of evil people to raise money. And took money from good people that could have gone to really helping people and not just getting Mom into heaven.
