Lissener may the gods forgive you. Yoko has to hang a pork chop maround her neck to get her dog to play with her. Cruise was outacted by a kid (Fanning) in War of the Worlds. She was so good that he looked particularly bad. I like Carrot Top. Godfried told the Aristocrat joke after 911 crash. Everyone was worried about whether they should try and be funny. He broke the ice big time. Celebreties are not important enough in your life to actually hate. I like Ali and did all along. ---

Add me to the “like Yoko Ono” list. Yes, her singing can sometimes be cringe-inducing, but I’ve heard worse. And, no, she’s not responsible for singlehandedly breaking up the Beatles, though she and John’s relationship was probably one of the factors in the breakup. ---

Jerri Manthey from _Survivor_. I never understood the hatred so many fans have for her. I didn’t see that she was playing any worse than dozens of others have and she seemed more honorable than many. She was open about her desire to win and who her friends and enemies were and treated people as such. Meanwhile much more manipulative players like Colby, Tina, and Amber, are lauded. ---

I like Barry Manilow. I like his songs, I think he sings well, and he’s not bad looking. I also like Larry the Cable Guy. I’m almost embarrassed to admit it, but I think he’s funny and I enjoy his act. I don’t mind Keanu Reeves. ---

I actually like Kathy Lee Gifford, and miss her with Regis. And after actually seeing the _Oprah_ [broadcast with Tom Cruise](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmOKCsGLS30), I thought the story was way, way exaggerated to make him sound looney. He was obviously having fun playing with the cheering studio audience by doing the jumping up on the couch, after he realized that they would scream in delight at _anything_ he did. ---

[/QUOTE] Mini-hijack: I too enjoyed War of the Worlds and thought Cruise did a decent acting job in it, but I’d still say he was miscast. He’s too famous as an action hero to be a credible everyman. Jerk dad needing redemption? Tom’s your man. Ordinary guy overwhelmed by larger-than-life events? Not so much. ---

Al Sharpton. Of course, you have to look back at Tawana and chalk it up to a once in a lifetime colossal error in judgement. Once you get past that, he’s a passionate advocate for those that don’t have a lot of voice in government. Anyone can stand up for the guys writing the five figure campaign checks, Al stands up for those that can’t write a check at all. Geraldo. Sure, he has been known to go over the top. But, like Al, he seems to genuinely care about those people that a lot of people don’t. George Steinbrenner. He used to have a merry-go-round of managers, but the guy cares about winning and he takes good care of his people. ---

I think Tom Cruise is incredibly talented and seems to be a nice, honerable person. I think his performing in The Last Samurai is one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen, and I admire his dedication to mastering the martial arts. I have a coworker that absolutely spits venom and snarls at the mere mention of his name, apparently based solely on her subscription to Us Weekly. She gets rabid while describing the faults of Suri Cruise, for crissakes. I really like this girl, but I actually pity her when she starts this act. I think it shows a shocking lack of character and a sheepish submission to groupthink far beyond the reviled $cientologists that sets her head spinning. She stopped watching My Name is Earl when I mentioned Jason Lee and Ethan Supplee are followers. That’s just sad. ---

Paris Hilton. As much as she’s loathed as being a rich ditzy socialite, the chick is out there working on all sorts of projects. Modeling, TV, movies, music, books, designing, none of these things happen in a vacuum, they take work. She’d have a hell of a lot more time to drink and screw if she just lived on daddy’s money, but she chooses to be active instead. Granted, there are better role models for little girls, but I’ve had plenty of female friends who go out, get drunk and be stupid from time to time. I also take some of the more graphic rumors with a huge grain of salt. ---
