Thats clever. I got my retinas scanned last week ( sun hurts dilated eyes). They found nothing wrong but I asked about my cataract. He said in a couple years. I cant read out of that eye but I’m supposed to enjoy this for years? ---

My Google Pixel updated itself and I hate it. Changed font size, altered the contacts to a jumbled mess that looks like a random yard sale for numbers and letters, added some bizarre icons that are more alarming than substantive, and god knows what else. Like I have time to go through everything and rearrange the device to be once again moderately functional. I am leaving to visit my family in Winchester, Virginia tomorrow morning and I have things to do 😬 My PC did an update a couple years ago that simply floored me. I came home and my wallpaper was changed, font size altered and it decided to add a screen saver to itself. Bloody frustrating. ---

Anti-Rants: My medical wife keeps worrying about me and sending me to specialists. Who then check me out and sneer “Why are you here? You don’t need all these tests and scans.” > Wife: You were wheezing after that hike, you should see someone. > Someone: Well, of course you were wheezing. That hike was way too vertical for someone your age. Okay, I did need the tests, but mostly to convince myself that my internal organs are within normal parameters (for my age). ~ ~ ~ We lucked out weather-wise. Our only trip this summer was from home (95º with 95% humidity), to our kid’s coastal town (75º with 35% humidity… it was a needed respite). ~ ~ ~ Annnd, I won my first contest: I get to go see Neil Young. It could be the last chance (he cancelled last year for “unspecified health reasons”). ---

The Pixel has Easy Mode, which you may like better. Here’s how to enable Simple View on a Pixel phone: Open the Settings app. Tap on Accessibility. Find and tap on Simple View (or Simple View in the Quick Access section). Toggle on Use Simple View. Hope that helps! ---

Two-footed drivers. At a stop light, I pulled up behind a Chevy sedan. The light turned green and we all proceeded forward as normal. And then two seconds after taking off, the Chevy’s brake lights come on. And stay on until the next light. Rinse and repeat. I tried changing lanes several times and Chevy always ended up back in front of me in whichever lane. At this point I’m definitely not following close and am leaving a good bit of following distance. Well this infuriates Mr. Pickup behind me who promptly whips around me, nearly clipping my headlight as he jerks back over into my lane and speeds off to go tailgate Chevy. I definitely want no part in _that_ impending disaster and continue along watching from a distance. Chevy still has his brake lights on, Mr. Pickup is constantly tapping _his_ brake lights as he tailgates away. And then there’s the screeching and smoking of tires as Chevy is apparently actually using his brakes for something other than a foot rest. Mr. Pickup swerves hard, goes over the curb and ends up in a ditch. Chevy makes his turn, blissfully unaware (or uncaring) of the chaos left behind. I’m an asshole and helpfully wave at Mr. Pickup as I drive by. He’s got front end damage and doesn’t look like the sort to carry insurance. I do wish Mr. Pickup had just rear-ended Chevy so both idiots would get a taste of their own idiocy, but at least one idiot took himself out of the equation. ---
