[Over here](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&postid=4443134), **Tir’s** informed us that she’s leaving us to join her **Twisty** in Ireland, and has suggested a LonDope to bid her farewell in March. Now, some people, naming no names, have quite rightly, pointed out that March is a very long way away. So, why don’t we have a mini-DopeFest at the end of January - January 24th to be precise? So, who’s up for it? And where? London? BrummieLand? ---

predictably, you can count the Paul in. the 24th being a wednesday i see. rather do London. I had enough of travelling for a while after doing a 1000 mile round trip at xmas/new year. pub? ---

I can’t spare the time for a mid-week drinking trip down to London at the moment. As for pubs, I will let someone with a better knowledge of London than myself sort that out. And if _anyone_ makes a comment about my knowledge of London geography, they’re done for. ---

bollocks I was looking at March on the wall calendar. duh! anywhere in London apart from the Shaston arms in Soho is good for me. I got barred from there before xmas. 😃 ---

I’m guessing as its in Tir’s honour it should probably be someone that sells Guinness. What’s the Tup in Camden like these days? I haven’t been there in a while, but it used to serve Guinness and Kronenberg Dark (mmmm)? ---

Embarrising isn’t it? I got barred from Bar Columbia in Holburn about 3 months ago. Why? Because i threw a prawn at some patronising mouthy cnut on the table next to us. Who kept taking the piss out of us because we weren’t high flying city bankers like him and his mates. Turns out that he was good friends with the Bar Manager. Arsehole. Not that i mind - its a poncy, over-priced, sofa-filled, fruit-machineless, wannabe trendy bar anyway. But they did have Youngs Export on Tap. ---

I wasn’t embarrassed, I was angry. I also noticed the Crown & 2 Chairmen on Dean street is well empty of a saturday afternoon. its £2 a pint on most stuff as well.Could be good to check that out, its walkable from Holborn if we go there. sells Guinness as far as I remember too. ---

Christ - you’d scream the windows out. I’m going down the Tup in Camden tonight - i’ll report back tomorrow if its viable. Its right next to the station, just down from the Land’s Wotsit. I haven’t been to the C&2C in ages, but i’ll pop in there this week for Lunch (last time i checked they did food) and see what its like.
