Shock Therapy. I haven’t actually watched it, but a couple of friends of mine that were on a Rocky cast have a copy. It sucks, apparently.

> But that aside, there was a whole series of Oz books.

I’m a little disappointed that _Return to Oz_ used so many elements of _The Marvelous Land of Oz_, because TMLOO is way overdue for a faithful adaptation.

It’s a turn o’ the century children’s story about gender identity. The folks who complained about _My Two Dads_ would drop dead if confronted with _The Marvelous Land of Oz_.
The protagonist is Tip, who escapes from the evil witch Mombi who has enslaved him. He has stolen a small amount of the Powder of Life, which imbues anything it touches with spirit and intelligence. This creates several characters who have to come to terms with bodies that don’t suit them as well as they’d like. Tip makes his way to the Emerald City, and learns that a terrible civil war (a battle of the sexes, actually) is threatening the peace. Glinda gives him and his companions the task of finding Princess Ozma, the rightful heir to the throne, who alone can restore order. The Wizard of Oz had kidnapped her in infancy and hid her in order to retain control of the Kingdom.

In the end, it turns out that Mombi had kept her hidden by transforming her into a boy. When Tip is magically restored to her true form, she claims the kingdom and rules justly and happily.[ul]"I hope none of you will care less for me than you did before. I’m just the same Tip, you know; only – only – "

“Only you’re different!” said the Pumpkinhead; and everyone thought it was the wisest speech he had ever made.[/ul]Yay!
Wow. I wasn’t even aware of these. The 1985 film got fairly good reviews, apparently.

Most people don’t know that there was also a 1925 version of TWOO, which preceded the better-loved 1939 film.

Actually you can count me as a fan of [Return To Oz](http://imdb.com/title/tt0089908/). I think they did a good job. It’s very dark.

Some more unsequelables…

**Breaker Morant**
**Das Boot**
**Johnny Got His Gun**
**On The Beach**
**Life of Brian** … although Python could probably make a pretty good version of “The Afterlife of Brian”.

I’m thankful they haven’t made a sequel to “Beetlejuice” yet. They’ve been wanting to for years (“they” meaning Tim Burton and Michael Keaton), but it hasn’t gotten very far. It would probably have the same problem “Hannibal” did. Great characters like Hannibal Lecter and Betelguese are only great in small doses, as it enhances the mystery about them. Don’t make an entire movie around them, as it’ll just disapoint everyone. In the case of Betelguese, it would just annoy everybody.

The title is not exactly correct. It is called
[Shock Treatment](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083067/)

_Shock Treatment_ doesn’t compare well with _The Rocky Horror Picture Show_, but it does have a couple of great songs. _Thank God I’m a Man_ stands out. _“A man should call the toss, wear the pants, and be the boss / A man should be the drake for his own damn sake! / Men should be the misters and the masters of their sisters / A man should be the reason for a heart to break.”_

Well, they couldn’t very well make a sequel to _Memento_.

I mean, it would have to be a prequel, wouldn’t it?

I don’t know. They blew up the Earth at the end of \*Beneath the Planet of the Apes \* and were still able to make three more sequels. And a TV series. And a cartoon series. And a remake. And . . .

Sadly, I was hearing rumors for a while that they were going to make a sequel to Tintanic.

In the movie, Rose takes a boat back to the UK, and is unluckly enough to book passage on the Lusitania.

It sounded stupid to me too.

Actually, Tarentino has mentioned the idea of doing a sequel in 15-20 years. Have little Copperhead(sorry, I can’t remember the black lady’s character’s name)'s kid come and try to get revenge for the death of her mother…and maybe have BB fight her.

But then again, Tarentino has also said he wants to do a Vega Brothers movie(presumably a prequel to Pulp Fiction and Resevior dogs), an anime movie about the Deadly V.I.P.E.R.S in their prime(a kill bill prequel) and a WW2 Dirty Dozen-ish movie called “Inglorius Bastards”(which is the only one of these projects listed on the IMDB.

Who knows if he’ll get around do doing them all.

They show Kate Winslet’s character living her life after the wreck, every now and then they cut to a shot of Leo’s character on the bottom of the ocean, being eaten by fishies!

Actually, Leo’s character went comatose (from the cold water) but survived, and was, a long time later, washed up on an island off the coast of Siam…

Or, perhaps, ended up in France, where he took up a career as a poet under the mentorage of a much older poet…

There has actually been rumors and talk of an Independance Day sequel for years.

The story would go that as the timer was counting down on the nuke the mothership sent a message to the rest of the colony about their impending defeat.

The colony mobilizes everything they’ve got and travels to Earth, a trip that takes five years.

The Earthlings know about this and have been preparing for battle with the help of technology pilfered from the downed spacecraft. Full scale war (and hilarity) insues.

Since the movie has been completely wrapped in development hell, Devlin and Emmerich brought it to a bunch of sci-fi writers and have put out a few ID4 books that follow this, including a prequel that explains how Dr. Okun joined Area 51 called Silent Zone.

It wasn’t bad actually.

Actually, that idea is not so far-fetched. I remember reading about a reporter (I don’t remember his name, unfortunately) who survived the Titanic sinking and being on board (and surviving) the Lusitania sinking. He died by drowning while crossing a stream in the late 50s IIRC.
