My wife just bought a 2019 Toyota RAV 4 hybrid. The car has a posted speed limit indicator on the center display. It does this with a camera and not GPS. I’ve had sat/nav that does this in cars and it’s useful enough. It will frequently tell you when you are speeding via changing color or making a noise.

However, using a camera to capture a real-time sign and then display a replica of that on the dash seems so…analog I guess. We just got the car and I haven’t had a chance to test it very much.

It seems[the tech](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic-sign_recognition) has been around since 2008.

I’ve driven a few Audis with that feature. About half the time, it screws up when it sees signs like this. [https://www.trucker.com/sites/trucker.com/files/uploads/2017/09/speeding.jpg](https://www.trucker.com/sites/trucker.com/files/uploads/2017/09/speeding.jpg)
