My somewhat related story. I realize that printer manufacturers are really in the business of selling ink cartridges, but Brother has taken this to new heights. For the past few months, about every hour a box pops up on the lower right of my screen telling me it needs new cartridges (it doesn’t). Two results of this: I will never buy Brother cartridges. I will never buy another Brother printer. I tried to tell them this, but I cannot find an email address on their web site.
Many years ago, when I drank more beer than I do now, one of my favourites was Molson Blue. Then they had an obnoxious ad featuring an elderly woman with a foreign accent cleaning public toilets. What that had to do with beer escapes me, but I have never bought a Molson beer since.
For years I have watch commercials for various Medicare supplement providers, didn’t really bother me because I had no need for any of their services. Last June I was notified by my previous employer that my company sponsored health care was was going away because I was turning 65. This meant dealing with Medicare and the various Medicare supplement providers. My first choice of a company I would not do business with is the one that hired Joe Namath as a spokesperson. I also found out that those “Medicare Advantage” programs they advertise do not apply to me, I live in the wrong zip code. I now avoid all these commercials as much as possible. Oh and let’s not forget the 146 pieces of junk mail I have received since July 1st. from these same companies. According to my neighbor, the older I get, the more junk mail I will get from these companies.
I used to donate to Heifer International a couple of times a year which only resulted in a couple of spam emails a year. A couple of years ago, they changed how they do business and have been stuffing my email, my snail mail and my phone.
This has resulted only in them getting their email address marked as spam, blocked on my phone and printed material tossed into the trash unopened and they won’t see another penny from me until the constant demands for money stop and probably not then because I will have moved on.
