Where do you think the pep in Pepper comes from? 🙂

That’s where you and I differ. To me the regular stuffing is the best and double too much of a good thing. Triple is right out.

Speaking of Oreos, I was introduced to tiramisu flavor a few weeks ago and heartily approved. When I went looking for them in the store they only came as thins but after buying a bag, I found with their stronger flavor two thins was about all I wanted at a time anyway.

Here’s a fun one. Cookies and Cream filled Oreos. Or put differently, _Oreo-flavored Oreos_. Did not see that one coming.

They aren’t bad and they’re my first choice after the original. But not my first preference.

That too. Normal size, family size, pantry size, party size, and the 2-bag box also bloat out the shelf space and make a normal original-size box harder to find.

Sure. But weren’t the Reese’s eggs of which you speak still peanut butter and chocolate? That’s not many miles from the original. I don’t put jam on my sandwiches and for me, adding fruit flavour would likely make a great combination less so.

I think the eggs have a slightly higher peanut butter to chocolate ratio. Also, IIRC, the chocolate is a little softer than the traditional cups.

</div>

I’m okay with different amounts of the main normal flavour combo. I wanted a big bag of Reese’s thins, which have more chocolate to peanut butter, like I bought at Costco last month. If they had any chocolate and peanut butter mix which did _not_ add strawberry, caramel or animal crackers than I would have cared less they sold extensions too. It’s when they have the extensions, but none of the original flavour (allowing minimal variants).

The crushed cookie filling almost certainly already comes from defective Oreos that were cracked, chipped, etc. and unsuitable for packaging (one wonders if the entire product is just a means of making use of defective cookies). Since the assembly line feeds into itself, there’s actually infinite levels of recursion here, though it becomes unlikely that there’s a single original Oreo molecule left once you get past a handful of levels.

I think it’s interesting that everyone is writing about soda, savory cracker-like snacks, or sweet cookie-like or candy-like dessert snacks.

Speaking just to me, I largely gave that kind of stuff up 10-15 years go before the brand extension craze really got going. So if I was to buy Triscuits or Reeses or whatever, it’d pretty well certainly be the traditional original flavor and ideally in a small-ish package. Not gonna waste a precious nostalgia cheat on some wacky modern variation of an old standby.

I wonder what else besides this sort of patentable food gets brand-extended?

Harley Davidson the motorcycle company now does a brisk business in HD-branded clothing.

Amazon of course is extending their brand in every direction at once. Amazon pharmacy being the latest innovation I’ve noticed. Virgin Records has of course spawned an airline or two, a cruise ship line, etc.

I have never been a big fan of those; maybe that’s why.

There’s also the ancient perpetual stew:

>
> A perpetual stew, also known as forever soup, hunter's pot, or hunter's stew, is a pot into which foodstuffs are placed and cooked, continuously. The pot is never or rarely emptied all the way, and ingredients and liquid are replenished as necessary. Such foods can continue cooking for decades or longer if properly maintained. The concept is often a common element in descriptions of medieval inns. Foods prepared in a perpetual stew have been described as being flavorful due to the man Perpetual s...

Though it’s not quite as bad as it sounds. If you have 5 kg of stew, and every day you eat half and refill, after ~90 days there’s nothing left of the original (assuming you mix well).

Years ago, I had a bag of mini-Oreos that were not very well put together. The result was that I could take one cookie off, then remove the Stuff intact from the other cookie. I eventually assembled a quattuordecuple-Stuff mini Oreo.

As far as I’m aware, that record still stands.

They should be filled with marzipan.

A friend of my sister’s worked in the local Winchells. They kept a big cardboard box in the back where they dumped defective or stale donuts. They were eventually ground up to make the cinnamon crumb for that variety of donut. She said the box was usually crawling with roaches.
