Up and Down - card game?

We generally play with 4, 5 or 6 players. With 4 or 5, we deal 10 cards the first hand, down to 1, then back up to 10. With 6, it’s 8 cards in the first hand, down to 1, back up to 8.

Our scoring is similar to what @Maserschmidt posted, with one major difference:

If you make your bid exactly, you get 10 points plus your bid
If you don’t make your bid exactly, you get 0 points.

Another variation that we sometimes play is that on the first and last hands, there is no trump.

Google “Oh Hell.”

The recent hearts thread reminded me that there’s a variation, Australian perhaps, of Oh Hell where players pass nearly all their cards before bidding commences. I’ve never played that way but it must make for some interesting decision making.

I remember that game. I think it had 10 rounds. Each one had a goal. Get sets of 3…or pairs …so on. Before anyone else. We played it back in the 60s. If we had to…we’d use an extra deck. I miss playing the game.
