Tried that. Canā€™t get the tape from the Game Show network. From their FAQ: ā€œHow can I get a copy of a particular episode of a game show? As much as we would love to give you copies of these classics, unfortunately we are not allowed to do so. Copyright restrictions prohibit us from duplicating or reselling programs from our library.ā€ I probably should just forget about it. But like I say, if I ever see it again, I will report back to yā€™all with where and when as near as I can get it. You never know whatā€™s around the corner. * * * ā€œYou are entitled to my opinions, and I will fight to the death for your right to agree with them.ā€ ā€” heard on January 18, 2000 at 4:32 PM Eastern Time from the movie _Weapons of Mass Distraction_, 1997, with Gabriel Byrne and Ben Kingsly that aired in the 4:30 PM to 6:15 PM time slot on HBO-C by Time-Warner Cable, thus documented this eighteenth day of the first month of the two-thousandth year of our Lord. ---

Where is the Game Show Network located? I confess that I donā€™t watch t.v. anymore, but I do have an ā€“ gasp! ā€“ FOAF (actually the brother-in-law of a co-worker/friend) who is a high level veep at one of the networks (I think itā€™s NBC, but Iā€™ll ask ā€“ Iā€™m about to go to lunch with this guy). Iā€™m wondering if heā€™d help out here on a bet . . . . No guarantees ā€“ Iā€™ve never met the guy ā€“ but he has a good sense of humor and might be intrigued. -Melin ---

Is there anyone familiar with video-capture technology? Iā€™m thinking if you could video-tape the game shows, and have a computer scan in the close captioned text, and scan it for the key word ā€˜up the buttā€™, you could basically have your VCR/Computer watch all this tedious television for you and set off the alarms when it found the right episode (assuming it exists, which I donā€™ believe it does). Iā€™m guessing such technology could easily cost more than $10,000 but at least then you could prove that you are right. And that is really priceless, isnā€™t it? I think if I believed this as fervently as you do Lib, that Iā€™d look into it. ---

Correction. Game Show Network appears to be showing the Newlywed Game at 4:30 PM, 5 PM, 8 PM, and 8:30 PM today in **my** time zone (Pacific Standard Time). Since DSS gets all of its cable networks from an east-coast feed, this means the shows are actually on at 7:30 PM, 8 PM, 11 PM, and 11:30 PM eastern time. ---

For the record, my experience with this particular story date back further than the New Newlywed Gameā€™s broadcast run. I remember a good friend of mine telling me about seeing this episode back in the early 80s (I only remember the time frame because of the house we were living in, which I moved out of in 1983, the year my sister was born.) This same friend ā€œremembersā€ the Johnny Carson/Zsa Zsa Gabor ā€œMove that Damn Catā€ exchange, too, by the way. He claims to have seen that on TV when it happened even though the legend itself apparently predates his birth. (My former Mother-in-Law in one who swears she saw the Kenedy Assassination live on TV. She also swears the Kidney theft happened to the son of a family friend from Carlsbad, New Mexico.) I only watch Match Game on Game Show Network, so chances are, Iā€™m not going to come across this Newlywed Game ep if it exists. But I would sure like to see some proof that it exists, if it does. ---
