# update on my bros brain tumor

I have 2 people fighting illnesses. One is a friend that had lymphoma twice in a year and a half. He had his stem cells removed and them replaced. it was a terrible procedure to endure. Then he was given a clean bill of health, they found no cancer cells . Then when his 3 month checkup came, he was experiencing visual swelling in his lymph nodes. He was devastated. When he went in for the check up the doc said, not lymphoma but probably a blood clot. He yelled “alright”. The doc said you could die quickly from a clot. He said," so what, at least I don’t have cancer." Now he is recovering .
My brothers brain tumor continues to grow. His son says everyday, another small part of him is getting eaten away by the tumor. He is getting lost a drop at a time. Last night ,his wife heard him talking to the dead. He said" you didn’t say that when you were alive’. It seems to be getting to the point where he is losing it. He is at home ,bedridden, waiting for the next part of him to go. It must be horrible.

I’ve walked the really sucky part. (Not that part, but a different part of Suck City. My profound sympathies for your brother and family.)

Brain cancer has to be the worse because the skull cannot expand as the tumor grows. I had a colleague who went that way. Sad, very sad. My prayers and wishes are with your brother and family.

I got a call today. the tumor has taken his sight away. It was predicted but now that it happened it is horrible. What must he feel like with everything being taken away , a little at a time? it is so depressing.

Reading your last post caused my stomach to lurch. My sister died from a glialblastoma multiforme tumor at age 32. I remember the feeling of watching her slowly lose functions. I’m sorry you, your family and especially your brother are going through this.

How long did it take. He was diagnosed last September. He is bed ridden now.Everyday some function shows damage until it is gone. He is 67. Until this came, he was very healthy.

She lasted 4 months. Her doctor said within a year and it’s hard for them to estimate, but she went fast.

My brother died yesterday. We are waiting for his wife to make arrangements.
What a horror he went through. He knew he was dying since last September. He had an inoperable brain tumor. Now the regrets are coming out. When he went through chemo and radiation, it sapped his energy and put him on a down slope that never stopped. Should they have done it? Now they wonder, but it was a slice of hope . That was something.
He was diminishing every day and knew it. A piece of him died on a slow steady pace. He lived and died through it. What could have been going through his mind? Every day a piece of his consciousness was taken over, sometimes part of his locomotion and ability to think. But it was relentless. He knew how it would end and almost when. What could be scarier than that?
He lasted 7 months from first diagnosis.

At least he’s out of pain now.
You and your SIL have my deepest sympathy, try not to rack yourselves with guilt over what should or should not have happened.
His suffering is over now and he’s at peace, he would want you to live your lives now not spend them agonising.
You are both in my prayers.
