# Updating the Terms of Service

Good evening,

There is no urgent rush, but I don’t want us to forget to update our Terms of Service to reflect our actual rules, which can be found in the topic “[Registration Agreement, Rules, and FAQ](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/registration-agreement-rules-and-faq/823562)”, although the formatting on that page is a little botched from the migration.

I have been operating under the assumption that the current terms of service page, found at [Terms of Service - Straight Dope Message Board](https://boards.straightdope.com/tos), is boilerplate provided by Discourse and not actually binding. There are numerous placeholders such as company\_name, contact\_email, governing\_law and city\_for\_disputes, and the content rules are significantly different.
