# Updike is banned

Updike is banned for his behavior in the threads [Imus Show Dissing Jill Carroll: WTF???](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=365527&page=1&pp=50) and [I lied](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=365660). Specifically, he was banned for lying about his parents being killed on 9/11. Usually a single lie is not enough to get one banned, but this was a heinous falsehood.

There was some discussion among the moderation staff, and the consensus was that Updike needed to go.
