I wasn’t sure where to put this, but it’s art, so… I guess they think that Jesus shouldn’t look like a “pretty boy”? I don’t think if he existed, he looked much like this, anyway. But clearly, people are afraid this picture might make them have new and uncomfortable thoughts. Haven’t Jesus statues mostly be gay porn of the ages? Totally ripped. Isn’t the normal subtext is that he’s suffering and dying, so that makes the gay bit ok? ---

Other Christian writers like Clement of Alexandria gave, Walsh said, “the ancient equivalent of ‘he’s got a great personality’” argument. ---

Last time I was in a catholic church they had one of the “emaciated/tortured Jesus” crucifixes up front. As a non-believing ex-Catholic, really appears an odd image to have front and center, but different strokes… ---

Scripture describes Jesus as “both God and man”, so it is safe to assume he had all the plumbing and all the natural desires that come with being human. I have no problem with it. ---

I’ve seen ‘Jesus on the cross’ statues in any number of Catholic churches that had much more well-defined abs than that. ---
