Upset about Big Brother's Ban on Incandescent Bulbs? Buy a Heatball!

I finally bought one to replace a burned-out light in my kitchen the other week. It’s just not bright enough (135 lumens), but the color temperature is just fine. It ended up in my reading lamp. Still, I’ll buy more in the long run, especially as the price-per-lumen drops.

I hate the delay and/or the time it takes CFLs to get to full brightness in cooler temps.

I have tried several different brands and have had the same issue with all of them.

In one package, I will get one that works okay, one that has a noticeable delay before coming on at full brightness and one that take 2 or 3 minutes to ramp up to full brightness. What’s up with that?
