Okay, we’re getting somewhere. How do I do that?
Settings - Filters - Create a new filter - Has The Words - Symantec Email Proxy
See if that works. Run the “test search” to try it.
I found a Notepad file called “Filters,” but I’m sure that’s not what you’re suggesting I look for. Where would I find these settings?
I meant to add a big thank you to everybody here.
In gmail, dude.
Ah. Durrr.
Okay, I’ve created the filter and I’m still getting the messages.
I think I set it up properly, it just hasn’t worked so far. But the help page indicates we’re on the right track. I’ll try adding some other words to the filter, like ‘savings’ and whatever else these e-mails apparently say.
Thanks again for your help. I’m sure there’s a pretty easy solution to stop these messages. I don’t know if it matters, but I may not have been clear about what they are - I’m not getting or sending emails about this. I’m getting popups from the Symantec email proxy.
Oh, well then you have me thoroughly confused. I was really convinced that you were getting emails in Gmail from Symantec.
Google “Symantec Email Proxy” and see what the Internets say. Lots of people have this problem.
Other on the Interweb have definitely had this problem. The suggestion I found is as follows:
Thing is, my Norton AntiVirus expired a long time ago, so I’m not sure why I am getting these messages. I did download Norton 360 v2 a few days ago, but it won’t run. It’s asked me to get some updates to Windows, which I’ve done - but my computer won’t recognize them. Needless to say I’m trying to get someone on the phone at this point so I won’t have to keep coming back here.
At the risk of sounding like a dumbass, why don’t you uninstall Norton and just use AVG for your antivirus program.
This is why I called myself a loser in the thread title. I uninstalled Norton and so far, that seems to have done the trick. Thanks sam!
