# Urine to cure earache?

Some elderly nurses at the hospital I work in were discussing this a few nights ago. I did a search, but although just about every other ailment came up, an earache did not, so I thought I would ask y’all. It is supposedly an old folk remedy and consists of _yuck_ pouring a bit of warm uring directly into the ear canal of the sufferer.  
Thanks for any assistance and try not to puke. Please try to mention a source if possible.

Apparently other warm liquids would do… one popular treatment in the UK is warmed olive oil, administered with a Q-tip. Also, I found one web-site recommending warm onion juice…

it does sort of make sense. Urine is a sterile fluid after all! One of the best methods of getting rid of tinea or any other foot fungal infection is to urinate on your foot whilst in the shower. I know it sounds a bit disgusting, but back in the 1600’s it was commonplace to urinate on a wound to clean it out!!

Umm of course it would appear to do the job.

earaches go away by themselves anyway. They do peak after a couple days which might have people visit the doctor but they cure themselves. I surf so I get a lot of them & they cure themselves. It’s pretty funny to think that someone would fall for urine.

Better you say you can lay your hands on their ears & it’ll cure them. Wait a couple days & presto! It works.
