On my way through customs in Aruba last year I was taken aside for secondary screening and they dusted my crocs for explosives lol.  
What idiot would put explosives in slip on shoes with so many holes?

Another time coming through Aruba recently there was a woman in front of us who was trying to take 5 pounds of bacon back to the states.  
Raw bacon.

It could be possible to mold shoes out of plastic explosive.
