US postal customers -- do you know your ZIP +4?

This. I’ve never known mine, and I haven’t yet seen a reason why I should care. And unlike some other responders, I haven’t learned mine “without even trying” since I have never had occasion to write a letter to myself. (For the same reason, it takes me forever to learn my own phone number – I never call myself.) And I’ve never known of any reason why I should use my own zip+4 address when I write my return address on an envelope. It’s not like a lot of snail-mail I send is expected to get returned to me.

The only people who seem to know or care about my zip+4 are those (all businesses) that mail to me. I’ve never given them my zip+4 (because I don’t even know it), but they all find out somehow. I conclude, therefore, that it’s redundant, and either that or some other part of my address could just as well be omitted.

I always use Plus-4 when sending packages. I believe it speeds up package delivery, not requiring a side trip to be entered manually.

As said above, it’s optional, mainly the benefit is for sorting the mail before delivery. As far as how they get it, I know you can look it up on the USPS website (enter a street address, and it will give you the ZIP+4, very handy if you can remember someone’s house number but not their zip code.)

This.

I never have, and haven’t been convinced of the need.

Actually, I know my ZIP+4 for my job, but not for my personal mailbox.

Weird. Don’t know it for my current condo/apartment, but I’ve always tended to know it.

Can I get extra credit for knowing my current and past library numbers and two credit card numbers?

Feeling like a slacker. Feeling like a snacker, actually, but some construction crew broke a water line, so instead of making rice or even hydrating properly, I’m going to have to shlep up the hill, buy some water, and maybe some bread or a sandwich or something. Sucks cause I have to be awake by 4:30am PST tomorrow.

It’s my box number, so yes. No mail delivery up here, everybody has to rent a box.

I never have to use it, but I most certainly know it!

That is pretty much my attitude. I’ve got enough stuff rattling around in my brain, I don’t need to add unnecessarily to it.
