Curses. Foiled by the dreaded unmarked (and unclicked) YouTube link once again, I am.
WAH-ree-er (although most of my friends say WUH-ree-ur)
**US Pronunciation of Warrior - Woy-er or Worrier **
We never really got back to the worrier part. Around here, worry rhymes with furry and hurry. Worrier sounds like hurrier, like in the Pennsylvania Dutch saying, “The hurrier I go, the behinder I get.”
A while back, one of our members said she was a Worrier Princess.
But does this mean we have to say “play-aaaaaaay”?
And . . . ahem . . . every single Clevelander I’ve ever known says “war” and “wore” as homonyms (rhyming with “gore”).
Born and raised in the SF Bay Area. WORE-Yer.
Same here, like “worrier” except the first syllable is like “war”. I grew up in Southern California, in case anyone wants to turn this into a dialect survey.
