As I said, I view this situation much as Kruschev testing Kennedy in 1961. The “heathen chinee” are looking to confirm their thesis that Obama is a president who lacks power…this is a test which will either confirm or invalidate that thesis.
China needs offshore oil, and laying claim to much of the South China sea will strengthen their claims to these resources.
This is absolutely penny-ante compared to the Cuban missile crisis. It’s an almost everyday occurence.
