USA Playboy is Boring !? Other countries ?

Playboy’s balls fell off back in the 80s and the magazine has been shrivelling up ever since. It’s been passe in America for years. Sadly, Playboy dominates the softcore video market, and their influence has led softcore to dry up, too. It’s WAAAAY past its prime.

I dunno, I’ve always found it amazing how bad Playboy makes most of the celebrities in it look.

I don’t know if it’s Hef, the photographers, the makeup artists, or what, but I find it amazing that they somehow make all of them look like 80’s porn stars.

Claudia Christian was a perfect example…

Hell, the success of a mag like Perfect 10 shows how sick people are getting of Plastic Playmates.

Well, cross Brazil off the list of places to vacation then. Drat.

If I’m not mistaken, that’s just Shannen being Shannen. She didn’t do full nudes when she was in Playboy in 1993 either.

I didn’t think anyone still bought Playboy to look at naked women since the internet explosion. Even back then, the nudes were tame in comparison to Hustler and Penthouse, so it always has drawn some readership who actually reads it.

I’ve always found Playboy boring, and completely out of touch with me, a 25-year-old. They have some good interviews and articles, sure, but most of their content seems to be aimed at mid-life-crisis-suffering yuppie high-rollers, the Sharper Image crowd.

And I’ve noticed that celebrities pose for magazines like Maxim, FHM, and Stuff “on their way up,” and Playboy “on their way down.” The pictorals are almost always too short, and usually terribly disappointing. That said, the last issue of Playboy I bought was the Kiana Tom pictoral, since I had a crush on her from watching Bodyshaping in junior high and high school.

I have a CD that contains all of the Playboy Interviews up through the mid 90s. It is certainly worth the price (which wasn’t very much). Miles Davis was Interview #1, the interview being conducted by Alex Hailey (IIRC).

I still have a subscription, but only read the cartoons, the Advisor, the Interview, 20 questions, and the humor. A quick glance at the Barbie of the Month and it goes in the trash. A month of so ago they had an article about conservative Senators and still had Lauch Faircloth listed as the Senator from NC. What was worse, they had a picture of John Glenn beside the write-up on Faircloth.

Europeans are pretty blasé about topless sunbathing… Now if you want perfect celulitis free butts… come over !

To agree with most of what has been said here, The problems I have had with the U.S. Playboy are that ever since Pamela “artificial flavorings and colorings” Anderson, most of the Playmates have fit the bleached blonde, fake boobs mold. Unlike, apparently most readers of the magazine, I don’t find this attractive, give me Lisa Marie Scott, or Rachel Jean Marteen anyday.

Then there are the celebrity pictorials. It really seems that the makeup department and photographers seem to have forgotten what makes a woman attractive. Look at the recent Darryl Hanna layout. Darryl is an attractive woman, yet you coldn't tell fron this pictoral. Don't even get me started on the Krissy Swanson shoot, where it did even look like her.

By the way, no I don't just read it for the articles, I read Popular Mechanics for the articles, I read Playboy because it has pictures of naked women.:p
