This is one of my pet peeves about clumsy news reporting. Around here, local media uses alleged to occurrences, not people. Someone is not “allegedly murdered” if they’re found stabbed to death. It can be alleged that a *specific person * did it.

What if they were stabbed in an act of self-defense?

or if they committed suicide.
