“A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it.” The other wisdom nugget I quote frequently doesn’t come from a movie, but from the series ER. I think it’s hilarious that such a cheesy show turned out one of the best tidbits of business advice I’ve ever heard. Context: George Clooney’s character is talking to someone (an intern maybe?) about how, when he was young, he went to visit his mom at work and noticed she didn’t have a picture of him on her desk. When he asked her why, she told him, “Never confuse where you work with where you live.” And I always thought that was really great advice for compartmentalizing so you don’t bring your work home and you don’t bring your personal life to work. Because of that, I’ve never kept personal pictures on my desk/in my office. Except maybe a picture of my dog (because all my other coworkers have pictures of their children/grandchildren everywhere). ---
