I think his thread about father/daughter incest was completely misinterpreted by damn near everybody. He was simply wondering why fathers aren’t attracted to their daughters more often, he wasn’t advocating it. It’s a perfectly valid anthropological question, one that was discussed in my anthro class. The answer to this question, IIRC what was taught those many years ago, was that the incest taboo came about to prevent the family unit from being broken up. If the taboo weren’t there, the aging mother would have a tough time competing with the younger daughter, and the family unit would suffer. (I don’t recall how widely accepted this was, and since it was many years ago this theory may have been discredited since.) I think Kel’s only fault there was not explaining himself properly, and not asking the question in more clinical terms. I think all it was was the same curiosity that leads people to study the incest taboo. I did not see it as advocacy of incest. And the BBQ thread listed in the OP was not him defending _incest_, but defending _the original thread_. Yes, I see there were plenty of other reasons to ban him, I’m not saying he should be reinstated. I just think this particular issue was misinterpreted. ---
