Using an electric razor

Count me as one who switched back to blades from electric. One of the biggest pains with blade shaving (as has been pointed out) is the mess. I bought a cheapo fog free mirror that is stuck to the wall in my shower. I now get great shaves every time. I wouldn’t dream of switching back.

Electric gives you a passable but not good shave. During a typical week I’ll do electic only for a couple days, then electric + blade for a couple days. For important events I’ll do a triple shave: electric pre-shave followed by Quattro blade shave followed by a Fusion power blade shave. The powder sticks do help with the electric shave.

I got a wet/dry Panasonic for Christmas. With lather it did a good job, but I’m struggling to see the advantage of using an electric if I’m going to lather up anyway. Been trying to get used it using it dry instead, shaving every morning, and the result so far is that I constantly look like I shaved the day before. Good enough, I guess.

This is my experience. With enough gentle patience, you can get a closer shave than with a blade. I use a Norelco rotary while browsing the SDMB.

The category of shaver (mostly programmers and evolutionary kin) who keeps an electric in their desk drawer and shaves while working is… compartmented, at best.

I’d put them in a class parallel with people who cook by stopping off for fast food five nights a week.

It’s safer than while driving, which I’ve done too.

The main reason I asked for one was to trim my beard and mustache, and it does a terrific job of that so I’m ahead of the game already. I like the idea of electric shave for a few days then a blade shave to reset the clock.
