How the hell you’d do a salt soak would be beyond me-you could gargle, I suppose, but I usually used a compress for the first few months when I first had my nose pierced. ---

Why? Novelty. It’s a “useless” piercing in the sense that it provides neither obvious aesthetic nor tactile benefit, but it’s something kinda kooky to show off to your friends. It’s not a common piercing at all, even amongst the extreme body mod crowd, and many reputable piercers won’t perform it simply because it’s tricky as hell at best. Hard to say if it’s any more dangerous than other oral piercings as far as jewelry getting swallowed or inhaled, but the difficulty of getting to it easily for removal, cleaning, making sure the bead’s still secure would turn me off even if I was the type to get “just for the heck of it” piercings. As for tongue barbells and oral: I’ve heard mixed reactions, ranging from “it made things less fun” to “it made no difference” to “FRICKIN’ AWESOME!” so different strokes and all that. I’ve heard nothing but good things about tongue splits, however. ---

I’m not a big fan of piercings, but those pictures actually make the uvula piercing look nice–better, in my opinion, than tongue piercings or most facial piercings. I like that they are centered and don’t jut out oddly like eybrow piercings or nose piercings.
