FYI, it will be released in IMAX simultaneously. If you’re near a multiplex IMAX theater, it almost certainly will be shown there. If your local IMAX is in a museum, probably not, because of the R rating.
Really? I guess I forgot that part. I might have to look it up when I get the chance.
:dubious:
Dang.
Uh, that’s my point, chief.
Son, you could serve me if you were a waiter.

I’m not a waiter ‘cause I hate waitin’,
So step off, yo, and quit the player-hatin’.
I’ve been looking forward to this for awhile (although I still hope, someday, for a Watchmen movie). IMDb.com still has “2005” listed as the release date for the movie; the Super Bowl and Olympics ads say March 17.
Natalie Portman as Evey - could be pretty good, judging by the ads.
Hugo Weaving as V - ditto. Agent Smith, Elrond, step aside… a lot of his acting “work” will have to be through his voice, though, for obvious reasons.
Stephen Rea as Finch - doesn’t appear in the ads. A key role, though, and one he’s up to.
John Hurt as Sutler - I presume this is the “Mr. Susan” character from the comics, the colorless bureaucratic head of the Fascist British state. Looks like he’s going to be a bit more Hitleresque in the film, including appearing in a Nuremburg rally-type scene.
If the movie’s done right, it will be just as edgy and uncomfortable as the original - no more, no less.
As to V’s true character, I think it’s pretty clear that he’s insane and amoral, but very goal-oriented and highly motivated by his hatred of the British police state. He won’t let anything get in his way as he tries to bring it down, and he’ll use anyone he has to - anyone at all - to achieve his goal.
Talon Karrde, that was a good thought re: putting V and Rorschach together in the same room. Yikes!
I believe I’ve seen it in the Roseville library.
I just looked for it there over the weekend and didn’t find it. Maybe it was checked out.
