Random things that bugged me: 1. 2(!) FBI agents entering a terrorist hideout, by themselves, with back-up 200 ft. away, but not even notified. 2. Where was NORAD when these ships were on their way here? Or any observatory or amateur skywatcher? 3. As mentioned, no way they are taking in tourists 21 days after arrival. 4. If they are that humanoid, their diseases might skip species. Where are the calls for quarantine? Is the CDC all lizard? 5. The thing any underground organization fears most is light. Why bother to form cells when you can hit the airwaves with photos and proof that the lizards have infiltrated? If the resistance has known about the lizards for that long, why haven’t they taken any action? ---

I thought it was funny that the “proof” the priest had was just a picture of a creepy dude that would have proved absolutely nothing if the FBI agent hadn’t recognized him. ---

1. The Visitors have never encountered another intelligent species, yet standard equipment on their motherships is the ability to turn the bottom into a monster Diamond-Vision screen. Why? So they can moon comets? 2. The aforementioned troops “guarding” the streets of Manhattan. That was what, a hour after the arrival? Where did the troops come from? What base? How did they deploy? 3. That F-16 that crashed came from somewhere. That means that means that #2 was off - NORAD and the rest did pick up the arrival and scrambled fighters to intercept. Why wasn’t that all over the news? Why were the news guys acting like it was just another day, when they should have been going nuts? ---

Their cover story is something they detected our radio and TV broadcasts and prepared an expedition to make contact. Cue Resistance scientists explaining why this is unlikely. ---

Really the whole incident was portrayed as being less of a Big Frakkin Deal than it should have been. The military should have been all over the situation from the start, Anna shoulda been talking to world leaders behind massive security, and the general public should have been much crazier. Really had a WTF moment when people just started clapping for Anna after her first speech. I don’t think folks will just accept something like our first contact with intelligent aliens with such relative calm. ---

Space ships suddenly showing up over major cities, I strongly suspect that, at least in those states with at least one school in the SEC, the first reaction will be to lock and load, regardless of how hot whatever steps out of the spaceship may appear to be. ---

One thing I noticed that I thought was weird that they had NYPD standing guard for Anna’s first visit where that reporter yelled for others to show respect. Not to lookdown on the NYPD, bur something this big wouldn’t be watched over by beat cops, most likely the Secret Service or some sort of high speed military unit. ---

Here’s one I haven’t seen mentioned. The FBI agents found a guy who had been tortured and murdered by a sleeper cell. Then they found a text message on his cell phone inviting him to some kind of meeting. So they go to the meeting expecting it to be the sleeper cell. Hello? They killed the guy, which means they probably don’t like him, which means they probably aren’t inviting him to their meetings. In general, I think the producers tried to hop on too many bandwagons at the same time, and some of them are incompatible. They want it to be enigmatic (like _Lost_), a gritty update of an old classic (like _Battlestar Galactica_), and still have everything established in the pilot episode so they can settle in to their defined roles. It was terribly rushed. Some people have said it should have been a two-hour episode. Told properly, this could have been the whole first season.[sup]\*[/sup] - The original mini-series was an allegory on the rise of Naziism in Germany. If the remake is trying to get all the pieces in place to start telling the story it really wants to tell, then that’s okay. But if this new one has any sort of allegorical purpose, I haven’t heard about it. ---
