I think this is what I have also - I’m just too lazy to go look at mine right now. It does an amazing job on the cat and pug hair as well as all the detritus that gets tracked into the house all the time. My biggest complaint is that the hose is just a bit too short for easily reaching ceiling fan blades. Or maybe I’m too short…
Still, it’s one of the best I’ve owned, and being lightweight is a bonus.
We have wood, laminate and tile in our house and have to vacuum at least once a week. We have area rugs that have to be vacuumed and we also vacuum the hard surface floors. We have 2 big dogs so no matter what kind of floor there’s going to be dog hair. There are dust tumbleweeds under beds and dressers.
FWIW, the Hoover lives in the storage unit now. Mrs. L.A didn’t really like it because of the belt, and she bought a Dyson a few years ago. I had to take the Dyson into the shop a few months ago because it was clogged. I couldn’t believe the amount of my wife’s hair around the beater! She cut that off, and I cleaned as much of the cloggy bits as I could; but it was clogged way up inside.
Believe it or not, I actually went to General Motors’ Janitor School. Here’s a little of what I learned about vacuuming.
The beater bar, that thing with row of brushes on it, is mainly there to vibrate the carpet to loosen the dirt so the moving air can suck it up.
If you work fast, you’ll get done faster, but you won’t pick up as much dirt. Slow down.
In a bag vac, the filter bag’s porous paper gets clogged up before the bag is full, slowing down the airflow. Change the bag when it’s half full, and check the bag every time you use it.
Many vacs have a secondary filter to trap the fine dust that escapes the paper bag. Clean it now and then.
We’ve got a Kenmore Intuition upright vacuum. At the time we were about to move into a small apartment that was carpeted and we had two cats. My research said that this was the vacuum you wanted if you had carpet and pets. Granted, I’ve not had anything else to compare it with, but it really did an outstanding job with the pet hair and the carpet.
Our current house is all hardwood and tile so our main cleaning implements here are the broom and mop, but I’ve got a large area rug on the floor in the basement where my cave is and the cats’ litter boxes are also down there. The area rug gets incredibly dirty and that Kenmore makes it look brand new, I am super impressed with it every single time.
It’s got all the attachments and everything, and it’s got HEPA filtration, but it is a tank, as in, huge and really heavy.
I didn’t read the five year old posts. Our main vacuum is a Roomba, a life saver when we had our golden who could produce a dog’s worth of hair every day. We have the pet model, and I take it apart and clean the inside every so often. Since she went to doggie heaven we don’t need to vacuum nearly as much and it doesn’t get as full.
Our other vacuum is a Panasonic which looks just like the old Kenmore canister we had. The Roomba replace an upright, but the Panasonic is good for getting the walls and ceilings and the corners the Roomba doesn’t get to. I don’t mind pulling it around at all, but we have a one story house which makes it a bit easier.
Highly recommend the Shark Lift-Away. Great suction, well-engineered machine. When the canister is lifted off, the vacuum easily slides under every piece of furniture in the house, other than bookcases. Easy to empty, easy to pull out and clean the filters, takes up very little room.
