Threads like this are the reason I keep coming to the SDMB. The thread is funny, but one of the linked articles called vaginal steaming “body shaming”, and I realized the subtle misogyny of the practice: the subtext that vaginas are dirty and need to be treated. That’s the sort of hidden misogyny that I, as a man, often miss. ---

Let’s just say, all the stuff they do to your face in a beauty salon (steam baths, chemical peels, etc)-- you can see where the problem lies. Maybe the massage sounds theoretically fun, but there is a time and a place for everything. ---
