Although if you use the unofficial patch I mentioned, Blood Buff is nerfed to 2 points; still a strong power, but nerfed. Which makes the game more interesting IMHO.

You bought blood bags? Isn’t that what the guards are for?

I’ve only played it once and never finished, so I might take this as an opportunity to reinstall it.

I really enjoyed it. I wonder if the graphics will hold up? It is on my very short list of games I wish they would upgrade or release a sequel.

Yes - that’s part of why no mission is ever really hard. But with the exception of the very last one, boss fights tend to be self-contained and don’t involve [del]cattle[/del] guards charging in. Hence the need for blood bags IF you rely on Blood Buff to see you through the fight.

Yeah, the Hotel was where I gave up on the game. Vampires are all well and good, but that was freaking _spooky_, man.

Curse all of you for your coherent and excellent posts! Now I HAVE to buy this game. Wish I knew if it was going to be on sale anytime soon…😕

Oh, and just because it seems the fashion lately: 74!

That hotel was a truly spooky experience. I only have a few moments of gaming that have stuck with me over the years, but that is one of them.

If you like CRPGs, I’d call this game one of the essentials. Interesting story, interesting build options, dialogue by John Di Maggio (of Bender fame), I wasn’t as into the World of Darkness as many people I knew back in the day, but this game would have gotten me excited about it for certain.

As for play options, I also recommend not playing Malkavian the first time through. I also recommend not specializing in melee. There are crucial fights with enemies who can move away from you, or knock you away, rapidly and pelt you from a distance. I forget what the power is called, but the one where you can suck blood out of people from across the room seems to be the most effective.

The game is $20 bucks on Steam, though I got my digital copy for $5 when it was on sale six months ago just so I didn’t have to dig out the disks when I got Night Fever again. It was on sale for $5 six months before that, so maybe it’s about due for another sale soon?
