Vampires and Islam

In one of the early Anita Blake novels,

she comes into conflict with an old vampire. A really old vampire. She was an anthropology major in college, and after physically encountering him for the first time, she realizes he has the physiology of a Cro-Magnon. It’s a truly chilling moment. In those books, vampires grow in power as they “age” - a thousand year old vampire is nearly invincible, and he’s at least 10 times that age. None of her normal vampire fighting techiques work against him, and he has powers and abilities she’s never encountered or heard of before, on a scale beyond anything she previously thought vampires were capable of.

I remember that! I felt like the fight was much too short, but it was fascinating. He would have been a great series-long bad guy. He never does mention who turned him, does he?

I find tonic to be a much more efficacious Jinn slayer myself…

This is incorrect.

Mr. Oliver was actually believed to be a Homo erectus and possible a million years old.

Nah, they are not. The folklore around creatures like Vampires is much more Intricate in the Hindu folklore. And they are much older - like 12th century or more older
