Vapor trails, military or commuter aircraft?

Many years ago, when the CONCORDE was getting ready for trials, several scientists raised an alarm about the possible effect of contrails. The arguement went that putting large quantities of water vapor into the upper atmosphere (I believe the CONCORDE cruises at >65,000 feet) could result in changes to the earth’s climate. Specifically, the claim was made that the shading effect of the ice crystals would reduce the amount of sunlight hitting the earth, thus lowering the avaerage temperature.
Is this theory still current?

Who cares SCR4?
That was not the purpose of the post!
What are you just confrontational dork?
If your not going to be helpful then mind your business!
I have no time for anal-retentive types, life is short!

lol

Yep, this is what I come to SDMB for!

I care. I care a lot. scr4 asked a perfectly legitimate follow-up question.

More importantly, I care about you acting like a jerk in this forum. That is against our rules (check the rules you agreed to when you registered). You will stop. You will not repeat this behaviour.

Check the second link in my post above. There’s some evidence that in heavily-traveled areas it affects the average temperature.
