# Vegas - Cirque du Soleil Recommendations

Will be making a trip to Vegas later this month. Between my donation periods at the three card poker table, we were also considering taking in one of the Cirque du Soleil productions. Question is, which one? KA, O, Love, etc
Bette’s show will also be running, but the tickets are pretty pricey ($200 for the Bob Uecker seats).
Any other recommendations for the last weekend of June?

I have seen:
“O” - the water show
“Mystere”, and
“Love”
All were awesome.
If you have never seen a Cirque show, then I would say “Mystere” is probably more what one thinks of with a Cirque show.
If you have seen a Cirque show, then I would say “O” is different enough given the elaborate stage and use of water.
If you are a big Beatles fan, though different from Mystere and “O” in that there were more simply “dance” numbers, then “Love” would be the show for you.
I’ve heard “Ka” is very good, but have not seen it. Most of the people who’ve seen “Zumanity” have kind of been underwhelmed.

Mystere was the pinnacle of Cirque du Soleil as a company coming up mixing art and circus. Everything from there gradually became more user friendly and less stylistic.
So depending on your sense of style, you might find something less artsy to be more engaging, or you might be missing out on what made them a success in the first place.

Hm, it appears that Ka’s music was composed by the guy who did the original shows… I’ll have to try and finagle my way down to see it.

“O”
“Mystere”
“Love”
All are fantastic but my vote goes to “O”. Stunning and the music was exceptional.

My vote is “O”. I’ve seen many Cirque shows but O by far was the best so far for me.

I’ve seen Mystere and O. I understand all the fuss about O and why the ‘on water’ theme is appealing to many, but I much preferred Mystere and thought it was very much the jewel in the Cirque crown. I have heard nothing but good things about Love, but it is what it is… if you’re not much of a Beatles fan, maybe it’s less of an obviously good choice than Mystere. As for Zumanity, if the producers of a show base their marketing strategy on the fact that there are a few brief moments of tasteful nudity, you know there isn’t much on offer.

Cirque shows sell out early. Waiting in line for return tickets on the day is no joke (I had no choice once, and waited about 5 hours for my chance to buy a ticket for O). If you DO end up waiting in line on the day, there is obviously no guarantee but if you’re among the first 20 or so your chances are very good. The line starts VERY early - around 1 or 2pm in the afternoon. It’s a complete lottery which seats you’ll be offered, they range from the very best to the very worst.

I’ve seen both _O_ and _Mystere_, and I’d rate _Mystere_ slightly better, though you can’t go wrong with either. I’m not a huge Beatles fan, so I haven’t seen _Love_. I just saw _Ka_ in April, and it was amazing. It’s different than other Cirque shows I’ve seen in that it’s much more story driven.

Well, I liked _Zumanity_ personally, but I’ve never seen any other Cirque shows to compair it with. To me it was amazing that not only could people do all these amazing acrobatics and swing in the air and crap, but that **there are enough of them to be able to find performers that will do it 9/10 naked**. We did the standby line thing for the night show, and it’s true that you’ll be standing there for 3 or 4 hours. However we just took turns gambling while the other stayed in line. So it wasn’t too bad. We paid for the better seats right in front. Sure it cost more money, but it was worth it to be able to see everything. Of course keep in mind that with all the stuff going on in the air, you may want a seat a bit farther back. Otherwise you can’t really see some of the activity.

May I suggest: go to the Blue Man Group instead (or in addition). They put on one of the most inventive and enjoyable shows I’ve seen.

Personally, I have seen O and Mystere, and LaReve (sort of like Cirque, but not officially Cirque) and liked all of them - but if you are going to see just one, take the cheap route and see Mystere - it is considered the best by many people, was the first here, and you will save some money. If you like it, you will like them all.
I give some info on my website about them, but if you have time, I would also suggest going to see Jubilee! at Bally’s…the last of the great Las Vegas showgirl reviews, with all kinds of variety acts and some pretty spectacular special effects as well. For a few extra bucks along with your ticket, you get a backstage tour as well. When and if Jubilee! ever closes, that will be the end of the old Vegas, showgirl reviews. BTW, there is a tamer version of the show in the afternoons (with pasties appropriately placed) in case you are taking kids, or great Aunt Gertrude to the show.

I’ve seen a bunch of Cirque shows, but only O in Vegas, and it was outstanding.
I’ve listened to the Love soundtrack, and wasn’t impressed, and I am a Beatles fan.
We lucked out, in that we were visiting friends with a Vegas timeshare on a deal with free show tickets if they let the property company try to sell us. The free tickets were for O about 5 rows back. Good investment of an hour.

I’ve seen a bunch of the Cirque touring shows, which I started out really being blown away by, but then I saw so many of them that they all sort of blended together.
Then I saw **Ka** in Vegas and was absolutely blown away. It was the most amazing live performance of anything I’ve ever seen.
But it’s different than a normal Cirque in that it’s MUCH more story driven. Which I liked, but some people didn’t. YMMV.

I’ve seen **Mystere** (which won me over as a lifelong fan – it is the epitome of beautiful!) and several of their touring shows, but it is **O** that I can’t wait to catch whenever I get back to Vegas. If by then it’s unavailable, **Ka** would be next on my list, with **Love** rounding out the bottom simply because I’m not that big on the Beatles. As to **Zumanity** , it just never looked that appealing to me.

Thanks all for your thoughts. Checked show(s) ticket availability & prices for the limited time we had available and ended up ordering KA tickets this evening. Looking forward to it!
