vermont vacation in fall

In Burlington, we stayed at Lang House, a nice B&B which is within walking distance of everything.

p.s. – When you go to Burlington, be sure to eat at Leunig’s.

Another Minnesotan here who has been to Vermont:

What we did is we based ourselves in Springfield, MA (I wanted to see the armory museum and my sister wanted to see the Dr. Seuss stuff). We drove up to Brattleboro, then the scenic drive was across to Bennington with a stop at Molly Stark State Park. There’s a nice hike there with lots of colorful maples in the park, and a spectacular overlook.

Also, Woodstock is very nice. We like staying at the Woodstock Village Inn.

And if you have a lot to spend, you can eat at The Prince and the Pauper.

While in Woodstock, stop at the Mountain Creamery for a Vermonte Cristo. Monte Cristo with nice VT cheddar and real maple syrup to dip it in. Followed up with mile-high apple pie. (And bring cash – no credit cards or out-of-town checks.)

Good advise.thanks gigi

You’ ll want to visit Church Street in Burlington. It’s the former main street of downtown Burlington. They closed it off to car traffic years ago and it’s a pedestrian walkway in the middle of the city.

The area around Wilmington is very pretty as well. I don’t remember any hotels or B&B’s in the town proper, but we stayed in a rental ski cabin. It was quite nice and had all the amenities of home.
