There are plenty of good actors and actresses around, most of whom are more or less deserving of their fame. But a few just rub me the wrong way. It’s not so much an issue of thinking that they are bad at what they do, just that seeing them on the big screen gives me the willies. For me, the ones that do it are: Jack Nicholson. This guy is too good at playing leering degenerates. I should pay $7 to watch a leering degenerate? What ELSE can he do? Dustin Hoffman. I used to like Hoffman, but it seems that all he can do is the “self-righteous whiner” over and over again. Helen Hunt. Sorry, I don’t think she’s much of an actress. Not enough to support lead roles in major movies, anyway. Anyone else? ---

For some reason Tom Hanks just turns me off instantly. It didn’t help that he glorified the dumbing down of America with “Forest Gump”. But I disliked him intensely long before that. Since you’re talking about actors I’m not allowed to go on about that king of the whiners Michael Bolton. Also Tom Whats-his-face who starred in Remington Steel. What a one trick pony! My brain refuses to even _think_ of his last name. ---

I might get bashed for this, but I can’t stand Robin Williams. He may have been a good comedian one day, long ago, but that doesn’t mean he knows jack about acting. I mean, talk about being pigeonholed in a loser role. He makes the pascifist Mike Farrell look like Hitler. Over and over again all he does is this whiny, self-righteous, feel-good pussy ass movies. Ughh. I resolved years ago, after seeing ‘The Fisher King’, that I’d never watch another one of his flicks again. Whoopi Goldberg makes me ill too. Why on earth are producer’s still offering her roles? Hopefully her stint and involvement in the most lame game show ever- Hollywood Squares- will put an end to any other film role she might get. It’s worked for every other ‘star’ that’s been on that dog of a show. I guess there’s just something about comedians becoming big-screen actors that brings out the cynical side in me. I could go on but I want to keep my holiday cheer intact. ---

I cant stand any of the actors/actresses in the movie The Talented Mr Ripley. At least the 3 leads. I also dont really like Helen Hunt. And… Pierce Brosnon (sorry) I always thinks he’s on this high because he’s JAMES BOND and seems to be the type that I would ate if I actually knew him. ---

I agree with **Robin Williams**. I just don’t find him funny - more self-righteous than anything else. I also hate all the current “it” girls famous for their bods - **Jennifer Love Hewitt, Tara Reid, Julia Stiles, Brandi,** etc. **Mira Sorvino** is talented, I’ll give her that, but annoying as hell. She takes confidence to the ego place, and that gets on my damn nerves. Can I say **Carson Daly?** Mr. Daly - thank you for giving an outlet to millions of tweenies who care only about what sort of undies Justin from \*NSYNC likes. Thanks so very fucking much. And the worst part - his show reflects actual album sales! Argh! **Brad Pitt** is not that hot, is not a good actor, and is dumb. When he talks, it’s like his mouth is moving in slow mo. **Keanu Reeves** - this guy really amazes me. I don’t find him attractive. I don’t think he can act at all. (“A Walk in the Clouds” - that scene where he says “I love you” could not be any more stiff and contrived!) **Helen Hunt**. I mean, **Jamie Buchman**. Why did she get an Oscar?? 😕 The “it” boys too - **James Van Der Beek, Paul Walker, Ashton Kutcher** - yuck. I hated “Varsity Blues.” I don’t even want to think about “Dude Where’s the Car?” Any actor that’s promoted as the next big thing out of London, who has of course been trained classically in the theatre - is revolting. I’m thinking **Jude Law, Minnie Driver.** Hey, speaking of Minnie, is she going to make a good movie? I think she lost her talent when she lost that weight from “Circle of Friends.” That’s it for now, but there are many many more. :rolleyes: ---

Firstly, I need to say that it really hurts my feelings to see that two people hate Jude Law. I think he is absolutlely wonderful. Who told Courtney Love she could act?! I’m sorry, but very few “musicians” in my opinion are equally good actors! (Well, in Miss Love’s case, she sucks either way IMHO, but STILL.) The best musician-acting I’ve seen is Bjork. “Dancer in the Dark” was phenomenal. (What I saw of it, anyway.) ---

I forgot one! Kim Basinger. She’s a gorgeous woman, all right, but an Oscar for best supporting actress in L.A. Confidential? She barely twitched a facial muscle and had all of three lines! She has been equally immobile in every other film I’ve seen her in, too. ---

I will second **Jim Carrey**. Every single damn role that he has played has been the same. The one exception, and a role where he kept his rubberfacing to a minimum, was Dumb and Dumber. Of course, maybe Jeff Daniels was good enough to make me notice Mr. Carrey less. **Drew Barrymore** sucks. I am not a big fan of Cameron Diaz or Lucy Liu, but at least they can be kind of hot. Ms. Barrymore is bug-eyed, chinless, overweight (not a bad thing per se, but she was supposed to be one of the beautiful “Angels.”), and overall just talentless. I think she gets roles just because the producers have seen that she has a penchant for flashing her breasts at the drop of a hat. While I thought the Matrix was a great movie, **Keanu Reeves** couldn’t act his way out of a paper bag. I also think that **Al Pacino** and **Jack Nicholson** are fine actors, overall. But for some reason (this is not just limited to these actors, they’re just the best examples I can think of) Hollywood has come to the conclusion that good acting = yelling a lot. See “A Few Good Men” and “Scent of a Woman.” While both actors did a fine job, they didn’t deserve Oscars for those performances. That’s the truth. “YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!” ---
