**Mrs Todd’s Shortcut** – I got the impression that she was somehow going into other dimensions. Time warp’s possible too. IMO the time warp is a side effect of travelling through multiple dimensions. A WARP IN THE SPACE-TIME CONTINUUM! (I love that phrase.) ---

If you like King, read his Bachman books (Roadwork is great). Rubber glove creepy for me is the frequency with which I have deja vu. ---

That’s what I got out of the story “Mrs. Todd’s Shortcut” that she was going in to other dimensions, getting younger, weird trees and that strange animal. She makes a comment at one point that the distance is shorter if you “fold” the map. So I got out of it that she figured out a way to “fold” time and distance. I also really liked “The Jaunt”. ---

I almost compared _Mrs. Todd’s Shortcut_ to Madeline L’Engal’s (sp?) _A Wrinkle in Time_ (the folding space-time to get point A to point B is explained in the latter). Damn. The skool library doen’t have _Different Seasons_. And yes, I got my nick from _The Dark Tower_. ---

Ever see those ESPN commercials of that new game show they have? 2 minute Drill, I think. That little furry guy with the “A:” on him really freaks me out. It doesn’t help that he’s endlessly muttering an answer. Once I called a friend of mine and had to put him on hold. When I hit the clicker to get him back I got this series of out of tune tones instead of my friend. It was really wierd. “toot toot toot TOOT toot toot” I thought it was some alien race trying to contact me. When I called my friend back, he said he didn’t hear a thing. And, no, it wasn’t the sound of someone just hitting numbers on the other line. It was much louder and shriller than that. Dark Tower rules! ---

We’ve come full circle! now isn’t _this_ vaguely creepy? 😉 “The Jaunt” was pretty cool…it always freaks me out to think of that idea…though in general, I don’t like SK’s short stories that much. His novels rock. ---

My friend and I were at a gas station one time to tank up the car. Right after my friend turned the engine off, a thin scruffy guy comes up to my passenger window and says “Hey do you guys have a dollar?” and we were like “No man, sorry”, so he says “You don’t understand, I really need to buy some weed, my mom just kicked me out of my house, I just need a dollar.” (The guy looked to be at least 30 years old, all the more creepy.) Needless to say we sped out of there quickly and filled up at the next gas station down the road. ---

This falls in the very vaguely creepy category. We were hanging out with my friend at the laundromat. The only other person in there was this old man. Apparently, while we were up front playing video games and my friend was changing his laundry, this old guy walks by him and says, “The first 50 years is the toughest.” I’d imagine so, but what thought process was running through this guys head he had to share this with the high schoolers at the laundromat? Also, this has been cracking me up for quite some time. If you yourself want to be very vaguely creepy, try this. Next time somebody asks you for a stick of gum, make sure you unwrap it completely, foil and all, and _then_ hand it too them. I don’t know why I think that’s funny, it’s just so subtly off. ---

Oh speaking of car commercials, the ones that freaked me out the most were the ones with that Nissan guy and the little white dog? Remember that? He’d flash you this unnerving grin and say “Dogs looooooove Trucks!” And I agree with the Welch’s girl too, she’s a little too…cheery to be human. ---

If you’re a big unwashed pinko commyanistic fagit like I am, this is pretty creepy… One night I had a dream, which is normal, but the weird thing is that this dream was _preceded by a commercial for the Bank of Montreal._ I considered writing the BoM and telling them that if they want advertising space in my subconscious, they will have to pay for it. ---

I put on the radio and put on my fave station- and yep that’s the song playing. (Not only that but it wasn’t halfway through the song or anything- the very beginning.) The song thing happens to me a lot when I’m listening to a CD and then put on a radio. It’s happened repeatedly, though not of late. It was especially scary when I was listening to Dusty Springfield on my discman and then heard a song by her on the radio- they rarely play her on any of the radio stations near me. Well I had to share that. I’ve been waiting a while to get it off my chest.
