Victims of customer servicers, telemarketers, and other phone people, tell us your horror stories.

Way back in the day, Network Solutions was work the extra money, but these days I’m not so sure. No, I wouldn’t go with Go Daddy - I was hoping the CS guy would be so horrified that I was that pissed that he would see the light.

What did they do that was worth the difference? I’ve never seen any difference at all between Network Solutions, GoDaddy, and Dotster… but I only ever use the service to pay for the domain, not for any other services…

If all you want is your domain name registered with ICANN then there is absolutely no difference in any of the registrars. It’s either registered or not, it’s either renewed or not.

If you additionally use the registrars hosting, email, DNS, etc. there are differences between the registrars. Also if you manage a large number of domains I’m sure the interface of some registrars is easier to use than others.

I once tried to open a savings account but was refused because I had no credit history, fair enough.

A few year later bills and collections notices start coming in the mail, saying I owe the bank 85 dollars and they are going to send this to bill collectors etc. Apparently there was a monthly fee of 12 dollars that kicked in at some point, oh yea apparently my account WAS opened!

It took an ungodly amount of phone time to get this taken care of, according to most drones I had an account which I applied for and I was mistaken that it was rejected. Finally got through by explaining that did they see ANY deposits? No and doesn’t it require a $50 deposit to open the account? Oo it clicked!

I’m just gonna say one word, Trugreen, and let someone with more time than I have take it from here.

I get calls like that a lot! These people do not stop calling even after you told them to a million times! And guess what? Say NO and and they argue with you! There were even times when I had to put the phone off the hook for hours so they can’t call back. Can you imagine that? These people do not deserve fair treatment over the phone. They take my time, invade my privacy and force their products on me like I’m some five year-old which can be swayed easily!

I hope these guys get rude treatment all the time so they realize they’re not in control. They can call all they want but nobody’s gonna be nice to them.:smack::smack:

And if it’s horror stories you want, I’ve read a lot at http://www.callercenter.com. That’s where I report unsolicited telemarketing and I’m not surprised to know that 58%of the complaints posted on the website are against telemarketers. How come the authorities still allow them? Oh yeah, there’s this thing called freedom to advertise.

But how about if it’s already stepping into our right to privacy?

“Oh but Senator, we’re just soliciting for business. You ARE pro-business, right?”
“And on an unrelated note, here’s a check for your campaign fund.”

Well, actually, there isn’t, and some unsolicited telemarketing is illegal. Think on the bright side–NONE of it used to be illegal. But there are loopholes you can drive a truck through, like campaign calls, calls soliciting for charity, and calls from companies with which you have an established business relationship. But we already discussed the last one to death and I have accepted that I am the scum of the earth.

Oh NetworkSolutions. Ha ha. Oh my. Hahaha. Bwahahaa! Tips head back and laughs maniacally BWA HA HAAA pounds fists on desk Hoo hoo haaa! maniacal laughter turns to sobs weeps uncontrollably like a child

Yeah, NetSol is dicks. It’s like a giant Kafka novel over there. Go with Dotster, they haven’t screwed me over too badly yet.

AT&T wireless screwed me over in a big way about 8 years ago when I moved and then switched to a local number. My out of town number worked fine, got great reception here, but with the same phone and same plan just new local numbers suddenly I got no bars anywhere, constant dropped calls, call straight to VM. When I tried to go back to the old numbers they said no, when I tried to cancel the service they said I had just signed a new contract, so no. I said–no, I didn’t get new phones because you didn’t have any in stock (!!!) so no new contract. I then spent about 3 hours on the phone with them every night for over a week until I got the contact cancelled without having to pay the cancellation fee. Went with US Cellular and never looked back.
