Go to the menu (pause screen), then Settings, and Controller. Scroll down past the sensitivity sliders, and you can rebind just about everything, including those selectors (found in the “Abilities” section).

> I’ll also point out that it’s a sequel of sorts to the Pillars of Eternity games, even though it’s a dramatically different kind of game. (Those were top-down, turn-based games similar to Baldur’s Gate III.)

Nitpick: they were real-time with pause, like Baldur’s Gate II. PoE II added a turn based mode shortly after release, and turn based was finally added to PoE I earlier this year.

Gotcha, I forgot that.

I remember that the Pathfinder video games were the same way, but I played them in turn-based mode because they were more enjoyable to me that way.

Either way, very different than the first/third-person action game that Avowed is.

Kingmaker was RT-with-pause on release, but added turn-based a bit before Wrath of the Righteous came out. WotR had turn-based as an option from release.

But yeah, either way, totally different game genre than _Avowed_.

Thanks, I did it.

I’m 11 hours in and love the game. Skyrim-lite is the perfect title. I enjoy it. Do wish it had maps of some of its dungeons, but it also doesn’t feature any dungeons as interesting as Skyrim and the other Elder Scrolls.

Pretty simple game, but I’m glad it came out. Shame they’ve canceled the sequel.

I haven’t played the game Crackdown 2 in 15 years, so I decided to try playing it again. Now I know why I haven’t played it in 15 years. It’s basically a much worse version of Saints Row 4 (which is a bit of an unfair comparison since SR4 came out several years later, but still).

Oof, and I think Saints Row 4 is the worst of the bunch. (Just my personal opinion.)

I think the only Crackdown game I’ve played is the 3rd one, which was (and probably still is) available for free on Xbox Game Pass, and was some dumb fun. (I think Terry Crews voicing the main character helped.)

It’s certainly different: more like a superhero game than a Grand Theft Auto clone.

Me: Buys five new games in a bundle at Fanatical

Also me: Someone on Discord mentioned D&D 5e Warlocks in a passing manner; I reinstall Baldur’s Gate 3 for my fifth play through. In my defense, I last played before the new subclass/spell updates!

I bought Dead Island II for $5 on a Steam sale recently. For $5, I got my money’s worth, but it’s not a great game. The gameplay is just so repetitive.

I do like the look of the game, especially with all its bright colors. The game isn’t super bad or anything, it’s just mediocre, servicable, but for $5 it’s a bargain.

Hey-o. I wasn’t expecting to say more about the YouTube Playables, but there are a couple (well, three) that grabbed my attention recently.

**1000 Hidden Objects** and **Hidden Objects: Island Secrets** - If you’ve played hidden object games before, you know the drill. If I have a beef about these games (and it’s a minor one), it’s that the difficulty jumps all over the place: one level you could easily snap up all 20 items right in the open, the next you’re hunting for that 1 super-hidden object for minutes. You get an extremely limited supply of help items, but the only way to replenish them in the original mobile game was to watch an in-game ad, a feature which is disabled on YouTube. On the plus side, there’s no time limit. More crucially, though, playing on a computer as opposed to a mobile device, gives you a crucial ace in the hole…AUTOCLICKER! 🎆 That’s right, you can use an autoclicker to literally _brute force click_ the entire screen and eventually nail the object no matter how obscured it is. Naturally, I recommend this only as a last resort (because it’s annoying), but it’s was _such_ a relief for me to learn that I’d never be permanently stuck because I could fight BS with BS. Man, it’s been too long! 😁

**Arrow Out** - _Love_ this one. Absolutely love it. There’s a grid full of arrows of various lengths and directions that fly out in the direction you’re pointing when you click them. You have to click the unobstructed arrows to make them leave the screen and free up other arrows, continuing until all are gone. A few levels also have green vortexes in the middle of the grid that destroy arrows, and others have obstructions that disappear after a certain number of arrows are cleared. It reminds me of the Unpuzzle games, which (except for the lunatic mobile version) were always a favorite of mine. My only minor beefs are the timer which obscures a bit of the top of the screen (no reason it couldn’t be off to the side), and due to a glitch the obstructions occasionally look like they’re blocking more than they actually are. (Always remember that they only ever block _one_ row and column.) The thing that really stood out about it for me is that I’ll sometimes fail a level, but it’s always my fault. Didn’t look carefully enough, missed an open arrow, didn’t see the whole height of the grid. This game _never_ plays cheap or dirty. Beautiful in its simplicity and still an absolute delight after over 160 levels. I can’t recommend it enough.

Firstly, I beat Avowed and loved all 30 hours of it. I have no idea why its reviews were only OK. I thought it was terrific.

Any **Obra Dinn** fans around here?

A new game, **Incident at Galley House** , has dropped and is very much a “light” version of Obra Dinn. You have to fill in the identities, locations, and timeline of an eventful night at a place called Galley House.

Conversations and actions give you clues as to who is doing what and where. You fill it in and sort of re-build the night’s activities, trying to understand what the heck happened there.

Oh, yes. You are right that it seems to have contributed to a genre of such games.

I may have mentioned the original (_Type Help_), which is excellent. Is there a reason why a remake needs to exist?

Graphics/Images. Voice acting.

I did not play “type help”.

My mom loves this game on her phone. I tried it and it feels like a nightmare to me. It reminds me of untangling a strand of Christmas lights.

I think that the _expectation_ was that it was going to be more _Skyrim_ and less _Skyrim-lite_. IE more hours of stuff to explore and do. Hundreds of hours, not dozens as it were. And yes, I know if you main-path Skyrim (not that I can manage that!) it’s also pretty short along with other Bethesda and Obsidian games.

Maybe I’ll slot it in before Outer Worlds 2 after I’m done with Starfield, for a break in Scifi.

Still playing Starfield, which is slightly more stable with mods (why do players have to fix the game devs?!), and I’ve learned to do a full computer restart every 2 hours or after every visit to Akila City. Shades of Morrorwind here!

Grabbed this last night off the “Obra Dinn” comparison. Digging it a lot so far!
